The pollution from brake dust and tyre degradation is worse from heavier vehicles and yet this is another invisible elephant in the room.

We always enjoyed driving out in Germany on Sundays when we worked out there as HGV's other than perishables were banned and for big holidays, nice idea.

Yes it made a big difference in Bavaria. You also couldn't mow the lawn so it was a true day of rest.

When I worked in the Bodensee in the late 70's , most shops only opened one Saturday a month and closed at lunch time, giving the shop assistants a decent life style.
