My guess is the loophole exempting bikes from speeding will be closed in due course ... improvements to bike tech and the seeming love Councils have for speed limits you could nearly break running may force the issue. Even if the Speedo issue proves difficult to implement then declaring that exceeding the limit will be automatic grounds for a dangerous riding ticket will do the same thing by default and cause riders to err on the side of caution

K that makes a lot of sense to me.

I think you can still get prosecuted for riding furiously on the highway, a catch all law originally aimed at horse riders.

David ... I used 'Reckless Riding' to get the gist across ... but I believe the actual wording is wonderfully Victorian as you say!! 🙂

So far, the fastest anyone has run is about 27½ miles per hour, a speed reached (briefly) by sprinter Usain Bolt just after the midpoint of his world-record 100-meter dash in 2009.

Our local blacksmith sadly died recently, so we offered to look after his old dog, he'd only been with us a couple of hours and he made a bolt for the door smile

The adherence to the 20mph speed limit wasn't aimed at the cyclists
It was because the support vehicles would have to break the speed limit to keep up with them rofl
