Afriend wants to buy a year 2000 mog but has no garage. if anyone on here has done this, please can you advise what protection is recommended please.

Ice pack and TBM do this so pm them maybe.

I did it for a few months whilst the garage stored the stuff from the kitchen & we remodelled. I ised a John taylor cover & the car was off road. You need to careful as any dirt will lead to scratches as the cover blows in the wind.

Other I beleive have had good results with carcoons.

Yep, mines out 24/7. I originally had a John Taylor cover but after a year or so it lost all it's waterproofing and turned into a useless wet blanket.

I now use a cover from Cover Systems - a local company. It took a while to arrive, but it's proved to be much better than the JT one, and for not much more money. You can go for an uprated two piece cover if wanted, but I've have seen a need and have had no issues with paintwork.

It has some nifty features like door zips, so if you put the cover on and have left something inside, you can just unzip a door and get in.

I tend to keep the roof on from about October to Feb as it rains more often and the rain can pool on the tonneau cover area - however mine is a 4 seater to a bigger surface area.

Has he got room for a tent type garage. I used one for a couple of years, cheap to buy and do the job.

I used to leave my car under this storm cover for weeks on end when crusing on my narrowboat. Multilayer, elasticated and breathable with under body straps plus further optional security strap. Soft lining so no scratches and better made than the dedicated Mog brands from what I've seen, cheaper as well. Fits in supplied valise for easy transport.

Interested in this because I have a new Plus Four arriving which will need to live on a driveway. I think in winter I will outsource this to a storage company and keep in a barn. I’ve ordered an outdoor cover from the factory so we will see what that is like.

I think my biggest concern is what to do if we get a long series of damp days after I’ve had the cover off for a drive. Covering the car when wet is likely to lead to mould I would think, and with English weather I could get stuck for a long time before it dries out.

Friend of mine has one of these to store his 4/4. Not cheap though

The Clarke garages sold by Machine Mart look quite good and are reasonably priced.

I used a "Carcoon" for a number of years - was very good at drying the car if wet and I had no problems with it at all - I would definitely recommend one - you do need an electrical feed to power the fan - you drive on to the base and Zip on the cover which when the fan is plugged in inflates over the car - only needs a space slightly larger that the footprint of the car
