Just booked to take the Roadster to Spain and France in June. We have booked 2 weeks with Cottages and Classics, not far from Angouleme, but will be in need of accomodation on the way up - somewhere handy for Bilbao, and then midway to Roscoff on the way back up through France. Does anyone have any recommendations? (Obviously secure parking being the No.1 necessity woohoo )

I used to stay in the Parador in Leon which is an old monastery. It was excellent.

We have stayed in Limpias (nr Santander), Toledo, Chinchon, Jaen & Cordoba. They are all different in their own way - we prefer to choose those that incorporate an old building or castle. If you are older than 55 you get a 30% discount!

Thanks guys - some great ideas. sadly I do qualify for the over-55 bracket, so should be eligible for the discount crazy2

The only thing we've found with Paradors is that the quality of the food is very variable. Whilst most of them are reasonable, or in some cases excellent, one or two that we have stopped in have had some of the worst food we've had in Spain. frown

Other than that I agree with Bill that the old premises tend to be better and the Paradours still remain our first choice of accommodation there. smile
