After a check of the dash wood colour in bright daylight we decided to change the new auto selector knob colour to black, as the car has mainly a black interior, this resolves the issue of trying to match the dash wood colour.. which may be tricky to undertake without the car present.

I sprayed the underside with AFC 50 taking care to protects & degrease the brakes. A bit messy but Krazy Horse tell me it is the best way to protect the underside. Time will tell.

ACF-50 is great stuff. I've used it for years on classic Defenders, off the back of a recommendation from a chap who does vehicle corrosion protection for a living, and, in my experience, it does work well.

Just washed the car after returning last night from Morgans at Windermere and a few days in Scotland. Interior clean up next. Then stonechip touch-ups. One whisling sorted temporarily so a better fix planned. The weather was a mix of fine, wet with snow on the tops of some high ground. We passed a group of Morgans one day. I'll post some photos of the trip later.

Hi Clemens, very nice job and result! I wonder, there is one neutral and one unlock button on the original BMW lever. Do you have the unlock switch on top, but where did the leave the other switch? 🤔

Klasse Clemens thumbs

Hope the adventure/work is going well.

Good luck with the Dealer repairs when you return.

Ruut the gearshift has two push buttons

1. the unlock button
2. the Park Buttom

On my new lever, the unlock button is on the top of the lever. The button for parking P is now under the dashboard. I hardly ever use it because the car always jumps to P when the engine is switched off.
The neutral position is in the middle like the original lever. There is no button for this.

Thank you Richard.

My dealer will pick up the car and repair it again. The first thing to solve is the problem of water ingress. This is damaging the circuit board that is responsible for the ventilation and heating control.
Then a new circuit board can be installed.

Thanks Clemens! So the Park button is under the dash. Now I understand. I've driven several and actually still drive a BMW with the same gearstick, so that made me wonder where the other button was hidden. Ik know some people with an auto-CX who would love to have this conversion!
Do you have water ingress by the way??
