Now this thread has seen a successful conclusion I don't feel bad about drifting it a little.

When the Heavens opened and the car was taking blue-water over the bows during the wettest parts of our recent trip down south we too had a couple of strategically placed drips come through the seams above my head.

Does anyone have similar advice but for an Everflex hood?

I've been considering Nikwax or the oil I use for my leather horse-saddles ... but if there's an accepted solution I'll go with that.

I used the pair at btm rhd here from Woolies on my everflex hoods on the 1st Plus 8 and 4/4 Sport and the roof was the least leaky part of those cars.

We'll have some wax-cotton jacket reproofer in a cupboard as Mrs Image favoured them for her bike riding. .... will give that a try first as it's to hand.

Many thanks

I couldn't agree more on the candle wax, mink oil is also very good on waterproofing leather, try a test patch first.

Phil, from Allen Whites, recommends beeswax. I have found it works well on the Everflex hood.

I have had good success on the Everflex hood seams using normal shoe polish, in my case black on a black hood. Although my hood spends most of its life in a cupboard and only comes out when away on overnight stays. Basically this is much the same as using beeswax.

Shoe polish is mainly paraffin wax so it will work but obviously stain the hood as well
