Bit of an odd one this, but I was watching a rerun of my all time fave sitcom “Rising Damp” when I could see an odd blurring on a small part of the screen and realised they were editing out a calendar featuring a topless model(not sports cars) that was on the wall of the students bedroom.
Seems a bit peculiar that it was okay to run the episode on prime time TV circa 1975 with many repeats over the years since without censorship, but now fifty years on we have to have a tiny part of a TV screen featuring bare breasts blurred lest we be offended.
Also got me thinking about red top page three girls - had to google it but “The Sun” covered up in 2015 with “The Star” following suit in 2019.
Back in the 80’s and 90’s I worked as a Store Manager and Buyer in manufacturing plants and come Christmas time, used to get nearly as many topless girly calendar’s from sales rep’s as the Labour leadership get free outfits.
These were gratefully accepted by the lads in the warehouse and various work shops around the factory to brighten their walls up.
Presume these “glamour” calendars are also extinct these days - replaced by Cotswold cottages or similar.
You can just imagine today’s Director’s of Inclusion and Diversity at Personnel Department’s or Human Resources or whatever they are called having a melt down if they came across a page three calendar on the factory floor.
2021 Lapis Blue Plus 6 You know it makes sense! 2016 Carmine Red 991.2 C4S
I think less to do with bare flesh, more to do with equality. We can no longer have women singled out in this way. Now if there was also a picture of a man, similarly attired hanging alongside and oh…some other in-between identities…that may be acceptable! Such is life nowadays.!
A senior manager in the motorcycle industry, said to me (in the late 80s): “In our world, men race bikes and girls hold umbrellas”! So, not entirely politically correct!
My nickname “Budster” was given to me by one of the promotion girls. She regularly featured, semi-clad, in various publications.
Bud 4/4 - Stanley
ps: I have photos, but I’m too much of a gentleman to post them! Also, she is now happily married.

Sam Fox a local girl from Canning Town. Strange that they are covering up when these days there is so much full frontal nudity on the TV.
Anyone remember a Factory tour/visit in the 70"s ? Those calendars were everywhere! 😋
Yep, even on the MMC shopfloor, and certainly on the wall of every quantity surveyors office
These pin-up images are striking today, but in their time they were hardly noticed, for example in an MMC documentary film from the 70s. Yes, it's crazy: on the one hand, we have so many moral guardians and gender experts these days, and on top of that, presumably, ‘diverse’ motorcycle racers and umbrella holders. Crazy times today, porn everywhere on the net, but you probably can't show the MMC workshop film anymore, or can you, because an AI can convert the pin ups on the workshop wall into images of organic vegetables.
