Chaps, I have been away for a while but I'm hoping to get back into the fold via the purchase of a Plus 8 ( the BMW powered one ) Are there any major concerns that members on here are aware of, any info gratefully received. Since I have been away I have tried a 289 Cobra replica, a Jaguar XK 140 o.t.s and am currently smoking around in an Alvis te21 d.h.c. It's been great fun!!
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

There were some lengthy threads on here regarding some pretty serious electrical gremlins involving the "canbus" electrical system on Aero Plus 8s: some of which - if I recall correctly - were next to impossible to sort out. I'm sure someone with more intimate knowledge than me will be along with more detail shortly.

Peter had some fun & games with his Aero Plus 8 - eventually fixed by the factory, but with the overall sense of them not quite being sure what they'd done to fix it. I guess the caveat to that tale is that his car was a factory development chassis, and just maybe some of the bits on it didn't make production. https://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/756438/another-issue-with-electronsWill

Reg, have a word with deano on here, he is an ex RR jet engine engineer and has had one from new at launch time from BB down here.
When I see it and him he is always smiling and other than minor early paint issues (warranty) I think he is a happy bunny, it is a glorious car and he knows how to use it his other toy was a GT3 last time we met when he drove me to MMC for a factory visit a very impressive bit of kit.

I’ve had my 2018 50th Anniversary for two years now ,it’s done just over 20,000 miles . No real problems just the occasional warning light that turned out to be nothing .. Damaged a Road wheel but they are not available from the factory now. A new front wing would cost £1800 plus vat , plus shipping , fitting and painting . So don’t bend it . Hood release cable broke due to rust , cheap but not very handy to replace . Mine is an Automatic so super easy to drive . The standard suspension is harsh and unforgiving , I fitted SSL a year ago and it has transformed the ride and handling . I do tend to soak all the exposed electrical connectors under the car with wax oil and grease so fingers crossed no electrical gremlins . . The reason for buying a later mk5 chassis car was road tax ,mine is now £190 per year .. not £700 ,Insurance was also better than expected ,only £50 more than my roadster and no tracker needed . Far cheaper than a Plus Six All in all a great car but be gentle with the throttle in wet or damp conditions ,it does like to go sideways .
Peter. Aero plus8 50th Anniversary.

Late to the conversation - but I've had mine (4.8 flavour) since new (2015) and no problems.

I believe all Aero Plus 8's from their introduction in 2012 used the BMW N62B48 4.8 lite engine which had become the standard for other Aero variants several years before then.

I know Peter Jenks replaced some wishbone parts at eye watering prices. It might be worth PMing him. Electrics can play up and the ground clearance is poor as I understood it from owners. But hey it is a Morgan.

Neil had a skid plate fitted as his previous property had an unmade road and there were several witness marks on it.
