Well I had an email conversation with Dan at KH (great service on a Sunday). His advice was check the earths, did that zip. Meanwhile I called out the AA who arrived in 25 mins (the last time we used Morgan rescue took 4 hrs). Thank you Admiral ins.
It was the battery. He reckons one cell is faulty. The car is 2 1/2 years old but for 1 year it sat at Central Morgan who said they put cars onto charge nightly. The alternator is pushing out 14.4V but the battery 10.2V. It never occured to me it could be the battery. These AGM ones just die in my experience.
He said it is not uncommon for AGM batteries to fail so quickly. So the OS light really meant not enough volts.
A new battery is enroute.

John I'm glad that the fault was fixed so quickly. I once had the same fault with the motorcycle. I would never have thought that it could be a faulty battery.

This is good news.
It also suggests that, despite the complexity of modern Morgans - which can often lead us to fear all kinds of complex problems, sometimes it is the simple things we should look at first.

Glad you're sorted John.
It would be interesting to know how much standing drain the CX cars pull off the battery with all the immobiliser and ECU / BCU keep alive functions that need power

Good news indeed! I also had an early battery failure - but with mine (2021 plus four Auto) but in my case the engine started but I could not select drive or reverse....fortunately Louwmans in NL were wise to this and the battery was replaced and no further issue with that. Apparently they had had the same issue with one of their showroom cars - with the same fix.

A friend of me had the same recently on a 1 year old 2023 PlusFour automatic demonstrator MY 2023 which he bought at Louwmans. It was fixed with a new battery too!

Today I removed the old battery. I dont know why they are AGM units as we dont have start stop but I will replace it with an equivalent AGM unit. Dead simple to do vs a trad where the battery is in the rear. Earth off first and ensuring it can't touch the body then following up with the live. I gave the battery box a wipe with AFC50 and checked the drain hole was clear You can also see the heater box plumbing now the battery is out of the way. The new unit arrives Tuesday. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2024/10/28/1000006658.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2024/10/28/1000006657.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2024/10/28/1000006563.jpg)

John, do I see a CTEK charging lead in the picture? Nice units but very prone to failure, I have had about five replacements over recent years. Do you keep your battery on trickle charge? Is it set to AGM?
