I reminded my mum in law to turn her clock back...she's just rung for some advice as apparently it won't hook back on the wall and all she can see is the battery box cover

We used to go away every year at this time and take my mother. She used timers on her lights and never understood why the lights still came on as it got dark but went off an hour earlier after the change.

At one stage Queensland in Australia did not use "Summer Time". We used to joke that Queenslanders were afraid that the extra hour of daylight would fade the curtains.  Certainly a lot of rural people worried about the change in time for the animals, milking the cows, feeding the chickens etc. It really didn't seem to occur to them that the animals would adapt faster than they would.
