Thanks Dave... I'm sure a picture will help me. Do you know exactly what was done to your windshield wipers to keep water out? It's funny that I get the answer from my dealer that the problem is virtually unknown at MMC and that the system has already been replaced 3 times on your vehicle

Hi Clemens.. the problem with our wipers was the mechanical wiper mechanism itself, first they would not park, then they parked in any position, then they tried to wipe the bonnet!. So the factory fitted a new mechanism, this second replacement mechanism semi auto destructed some months later, I was told part of it had seized. The last factory fix was another new complete mechanism which does seem to be better made, the axle shaft and spline area appears a higher quality finish, so maybe made by another manufacturer?? ( I dont know this for sure, but it is different to the first two in that area ). I am trying to find the embedded BBcode in the TM image library photo of the mechanism, but no luck so far. So I have put out a question on the forum about this, as soon as I can find this I will post the photo.. This is of the wiper mechanism less its motor.. When our second mechanism auto destructed the complete external arm, axle shaft and its exterior clamp came loose, thats why I was able to see how the axle came through the body work and also see the sealant applied in that area and the gasket on the axle clamp..

Hi Clemens, John has sorted me out... CX wiper mechanism picture as follows: ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2024/01/25/Wiper-linkage.jpeg) If you look at the photo, where each wiper axle comes through the body there is an upper and lower stainless clamp which clamps the axle area in place onto the bodywork with the large central axle central nut, under each of the the upper clamp ( blocks) there is a black gasket. In the photo on the right hand side you can see there is a section of rod with nothing attached to the rose joint, this is where the wiper motor attachs. This is the mechanism in a CX. Note this photo is taken of the mechanism on a right hand drive car, I would think this is reversed for a left hand drive car.. Hope the above helps.. Dave

Evening Clemens, the wiper mechanism photo is a 2021 Plus Six. However, the CX mechanism as fitted is basically the same design. My observations of the last wiper mechanism fitted in 2023 into our car, is that it is of the same or very similar design, but it is better finished with less side play in the wiper axle shafts and the axle splines that help retain the wiper arms are well machined compared to our cars earlier versions.

I reglued the sidescreen knob and replaced the broken tenx fastener.
The tenax I decided warrented a screw extractor set but in the end the metal is so soft the drill did the work. I replaced both sides with stainless ones & washers. Not a hard job but scary when you drill even if the paint is protected by masking tape.

Just stick a washer over the hole with double sided tape John. It keeps the drill bit centralised if the hole is the right size.
