Hi all, after some assistance to find part numbers for a set of spark plug - ignition leads to suit my Plus 4. The car was delivered to Australia in 2012. The info I have is it as a Ford engine, 2.0 l, engine number E4035007KL. Chassis number 4944 The issue we have is not all Ford engines in Australian Ford cars are necessarily the same as UK cars. Dr Google seem to reference the Mondeo which was not sold down under. Any help on numbers or source of supply would be appreciated,
Best regards Ross

Your handbook may help with a little further information I have a 2012 Plus 4 and the handbook identifies a Ford CJBB engine a quick internet search found eg https://mymotorlist.com/engines/ford/cjba-cjbb/The handbook also identifies the spark plug type as Motorcraft AGSF22FSCM or equivalent, take out your current plugs and they may help if recently changed, might also be a part number on your other components. Once you have the parts numbers it should be easy to track things down.

Having seen this post I posted on 9/4/13 some images of plugs that were the originala in my 2012 plus4 with a Duratec engine mated with Mazda gear box. The car was bought new from Phil Ledgerwood and the first service revealed the condition of the parts after about 9700 miles covered in 11 months from new. The trips were completed in some fairly changeable weather conditions. The Arctic Circle part wasn’t particularly forgiving. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/41yUFp2.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/jIxLouR.jpg)

Thank you both for taking the time to respond. John, yes the info you refer to in the "handbook" corresponds with mine also, re engine model and plug part no., the plugs were not the issue, but identifying the correct leads to suit this particular model of engine. As I refered to previously, I am not sure if this variation of engine was ever supplied into Australian assembled cars, ie Laser etc and may well have been Mazda sourced componentry but rebadged Ford. The first set of leads we sourced had larger diameter boots and could not be pushed into the plug tube, but good news is we have found a set that seems to be ok. My only concern is if they are a loose fit we can end up with the situation that Bob has shown in his post (water down the tube) . A google search of UK sites has shown a few sources of supply and now I have the old ones, can do an accurate dimensional measurement and cross reference before I make an order. I did come across that web site in my searches and was amazed as to the number of variants of engine over the years, but all seem to relate to European supplied cars. Again, many thanks for your input, safe motoring and Morganing.
Regards Ross

Regards Ross All Duratec engines suffer from water ingress in Morgans, its a well known unfortunate feature and many people have sourced or made a shield to deflect any water ingress from the bonnet louvers etc. My spark plugs when they were removed recently had clear water marks well up the spark plug isolator body, clearly indicating they had been well submerged in water for some time. At least you have tracked down a foreign source for spare parts, just unfortunate there may not be many local Australian suppliers whether it be Ford or Mazda One aspect of the handbook which may not be correct as they may be older handbooks. the gearbox referred to in my handbook is a Ford gearbox, where mine has the Mazda gearbox. Yours most likely is a Mazda gearbox too.

Might be a ford gearbox or a Mazda depending on when it was made and shipped etc. You are right on the point when the changeover happened around 2011/12 Think you will be before the GDi variant engine so expect you do have the Duratec engine with ford g/box which has a coil pack and not coil on plug. The Duratec/Mazda box combination only lasted about a year before the GDi engine came in which has direct fuel injection not indirect. You have the best re. engine issues and the Duratec's are starting to hold higher prices than the GDi options. Yep the Duratec suffers with collecting water down the plug access tubes, number one being the worst. I fit mine using an electrical grease and I use it on the threads as well. Service them regularly and suck out any water/crap before removing the the plug. I also blow them out with an air-line after I have loosened the plug to remove debris that undoing them causes. There are lots of arguments about using grease or anti seize on plug threads but if you do, don't use copper slip as it will erode the threads in the alloy head, rather use the aluminium option., sparingly! This will effect the torque setting if you lubricate them so I carefully hand tighten them so as not to stress the threads in the head. However I would rather be careful with my plugs/head than suffer a plug seized in there! If you have the Ford box it will be the MT-75 as fitted in some sierra cosworth cars. I have this box and love it as its so strong though the Mazda box is loved for its gear change./shift. Personally I wouldn't swap it and the ford box shouldn't have a difficult change. if yours does PM me and I'll tell you how to sort it out. You don't hear Cosworth drivers moaning! If you ever need parts ross I'm happy to help. And ship them over for you!
