I’ve been lucky with my Plus 6 until 16 days ago. I use and abuse it most days, owned it 2.5 years and apart from OS light coming one once, it’s never put a foot wrong. Nothing, no rad issue, brake issues, nothing, until 16 days ago. Coming back from Ludlow yard to our place near Malvern, heater stopped working, battery light came on and steam pouring out of engine vents. Switched off, checked water, empty. Filled it up with Evian bottled water, drove 6 miles home. Steaming like a bastard when home. Ring Morgan next day, bring it down if you can. Filled up with water, did the 4 miles, didn’t overheat and I left it in Malvern works car park. I knew what it was as so do the rest of you. So, 16 days later, get it back, updated new radiator, aircon gassed, software update, everything works, nice valet, but not to fussed about that. Keys handed back, no charge. Thank god for that !! As out of warranty and radiator was first changed over two years ago. I was one of the first to have it done apparently. Because I drove it to factory and dumped it there. Anyway, that’s another story. So, up shot, I feel Morgan were very honourable, never a mention of any cost to me, and fixed in a couple of weeks. So I feel that they are not all bad. We didn’t get into any discussion about the rad failures, I was just glad it was fixed with no drama. They said keep an eye on it, it is the absolute latest radiator and all updates are on point. I’ll keep you informed going forward if your interested.

Oh and a side note, I have no real interest in changing it for a new, or newer one, as it’s very hi spec press car and it has a hard top. But….. due to its age and higher milage, part ex price quotes against new one as of today, £42k. Definitely keeping it , using it in all weathers and generally intend to thrash it to death.

Absolutely the right attitude to Morgan ownership......far too many folk worried about SORN, depreciation, low mileage and polishing.......😆

It's a car........it want's driving...

Very well said Jono and I agree with your sentiments entirely, both on Morgan’s response to the problem and your intended use for the car. Bravo.

This is one of the most revealing and reassuring posts I've read recently on so many levels. Its great to read that an early CX car is still being supported by the factory post expiry of the warranty period and the car delivers the driving experience all year round the owner is looking for and is not being too precious with it. Takes me back to my earlier days of Morgan ownership when many of the then older Morgan owners I met were all year round, come what may, Morgan drivers.

Back then it was a lengthy wait to get a new car and only a handful of used cars were for sale, maybe because of that they were owned by true enthusiasts. Today its too easy to buy a new Morgan, just walk into a showroom and point I'll take one or wait a few months to bespoke one, so more instant gratification and less pent up yearning for years for your car to be delivered. Maybe diluting the acquisition process and making them more readily available has changed over time the type of clientele base who can avail of the brand.

I know if I'd waited patiently for many years to take delivery of my car, I would be less inclined to sell it in a recession as I would face a massive wait to get another new one............

Good news for Jono who deserves a no quibble repair as a proper Mog user

Just bear in mind chaps that regardless of expired warranties a proven latent design defect can be claimed up to 6 years from the date of cause (cause = build date in my view)

Good news. Also good to see a Morgan being used rather than garaged and a weekly polish!
I have a Plus Four and am already exceeding the mileage I was doing in the previous car, a Plus8. Car was bought new in June '23, 7k+ in year1 and year2 will be more than that with trips already planned. Scotland twice already booked then add in the rest. Only 1 issue under warranty when a new pcb for the gauges needed. Dealt with well by the dealer and MMC.
A weekend away later this month to Taffmog Winter Weekend/Christmas event. Mid Wales based so some good options for drives.
