What do you think has lead to the greater usage of the Plus Four compared to the Plus 8, is a question of increased comfort, greater economy, lower running costs and less maintenance eg kingpin greasing, more reliable or just the novelty hasn't worn of yet or a combination of the aforementioned or none of the aforementioned. It certainly seems reading between the lines that most converts who have moved to a CX most likely would not return to a trad.

It is a more modern drive and it eats the miles. I have done 4500 miles since early July when I bought the P4. Mind you I normall do 6-8k in my Mogs per annum.

I think they are expensive for just toys. And as people get older, maybe they realise that they should just drive them. I’m only in my mid 50s, and if used in all weathers , and it gets dirty, you get used to it and don’t really care. In fact I think it’s quite cool to pull up somewhere in a very dirty Morgan. And now we know that they suffer depreciation like any other car, it may as well be used like any other car. My kids or wife will only flog it at any old price if anything happens to me. My hard top is a big plus for all year use, in fact it’s been on the car for the last 15 months. It still leaks a bit, but driving it all the time, I’m used to it’s everyday quirks.
My original post was to share the fact that MMC gave me a boost of confidence in the way they handled the radiator fail. And I know if it happens again, they said it would be honoured again. Let’s hope the latest updates and radiator hold up. As they said, my car, doing 10,000 miles a year is a good test, and every machine I’ve ever owned has s@@t itself at sometime in its life. And there has been a lot of them.

I wanted to continue with a Morgan. It was a Plus8 2002 with 70k+ miles. I really liked the car. To keep it I listed jobs that would keep it for longer. Nothing really major but sorting age related things. Paintwork, future proofing wiring, etc. I was drifting away from too much "hands-on" age and time constraints. Whilst on a weekend away we visited Berrybrook ( I bought the Plus8 from them several years ago). We did a test drive in a manual 2020 car. I was impressed. Mrs sospan liked it and was searching dealers for cars that night! Had a test drive of an auto and we bought it.
Pre Covid the annual mileage was about 6k. The "lost" Covid years prompted thoughts of enjoying life and trad mileage increased again to 6k So, yes the Plus Four was not cheap but trade-in helped a lot with a good price. Add in the intention of more mileage with less tinkering, the impressive performance that was more than compensating the v8 loss (apart from the sound!) The car is roomier, more comfortableand the ride better.
My Morgans have never been unused. I want to drive the car and by going CX I can do that. Plus Four or Plus Six? The Four is plenty of car with auto, Sport, Spirt+ and paddle shift so pootles along or gets the adrenaline rush. The Plus8 did that but I now have more. A modern car with the same Morgan styling. It has extended the enjoyment of Morgan ownership .
