A great chippy where I live up in Cumbria….always long queues outside. The secret is to order online and have them delivered in his cute tiny Citroen EV! He’s tried to keep his prices down but the cost of fish just keeps going up. Thankfully he keeps the price of curry sauce down!
We’ve two pubs in the village and recently joined by a wine bar which has stirred things up. Due to loss of customers my local has reduced the price of beer to £3.50 a pint for the local brew. They are busy again! Your local wouldn't be too happy if a Wetherspoons open up locally...Ruddles a local northern beer is only £1.79 a pint when not on special. has been as low as £1.49 a pint pre budget Mondays recently. Same promotion Guinness was £2.98 and because its in demand its a well kept pint.

I wouldn't call have called Rutland local to Lancashire.
However, I just checked and since Greene King acquired the "Brand" the beer is now brewed in Suffolk.

Greene King seemed to have bought up loads of local brewers over the past few years. It all comes from Bury St Edmunds now.....🤷🏻♂️ I'm going out for fish and chips in about 10 mins.....👍🏼

I’m really lucky in that one of the best fish and chip shop takeaways is in walking distance from my house
It’s run by Andrew Cook who is the chairman of the Federation of Fish and Chip shops and travels the world meeting the great and good promoting British fish and chips and always has an interesting story to tell when I’m waiting in the queue.
It’s called Skippers of Euxton
I always go for his large Haddock, small chips, mushy peas and hot curry sauce
It’s a once a week treat. I think his large Haddock is about £8 but it’s worth it

Our go to Fish & Chip shop is Krispies in Exeter Road, Exmouth. Awarded Fish & Chip Shop of the year in 2019. They now have two other locations, neither of which we have tried. www.krispies.co.ukBud 4/4 - Stanley

I was chatting to another chap in the Men's Shed and he said a pint in our local is now over £5!! To me, that's London prices. Dont drink and drive so I asked for a pint of no alcohol cider - £6 and thats a long way from London. Interestingly , I visited the Rattler brewery recently. I asked them how they removed the alcohol from their cider to make is zero alcohol. The answer was " we never put it in - we done ferment the apple juice". So its not really cider, its simply a pint of Apple juice for your £6!!!

We always used to make the trip over to Cleethorpes for fish and chips when we were back up north. Haven't been for ages though.
After 34 years in the south, and with no real need to be here anymore, we're very seriously looking at making the move back up to Yorkshire........
