I think MMC would certainly like to retain as many 'legacy' owners as possible, in the current market any buyer would be welcomed I'm sure......
I suppose those who might have gone for an Aero or a 3.7 roadster are the new target buyers...🤷🏻‍♂️

I've driven a Plus Four and I really liked it, as a modern car it's rubbish but as a Morgan it's a huge leap forward in almost every respect, (compared to a trad).
It's just not very............Morgan...... or certainly the style of Morgan that would appeal to trad owners, but.........having said that, many trad owners are now selling up/too old/dying off..... so the new direction is the only hope for MMC I guess.

In the competitive and cluttered marketplace of sub £100k sports cars the product has to be really good to attract and retain customers.
It's been said a lot on here, but the CX cars do seem expensive for what they are.

In the past (!!!!🤷🏻‍♂️) MMC didn't have to worry about special editions or mid cycle upgrades and model changes because they were in a market of their own, there was no competition.
MMC capitalised and thrived on their uniqueness, in built obsolescence and quirkiness. Low production numbers and waiting lists helped, but even without the waiting lists of the Sir John Harvey Jones days they still thrived.

Perry, to try and answer your question I sold my Plus Four about a year ago and lost more money on it than you are asking for your car! The market is just not there any more, time moves on. If I was you and somebody offered 25K I would bite their hands off.

Now that the trad Morgan is no longer in production I'd suggest that it's appeal lies broadly in the "classic car" category.

With a few exceptions, already mentioned by previous posters, this section of the market is depressed and, in my opinion, values are unlikely to recover.

The market will eventually find it's level and I'd anticipate there'll always be a demand for trad Morgans, particularly the earlier, simpler models. They're relatively simple cars with good spares and technical support.

I'd be more concerned about the current cars and the Aero models.

I owned an Aero 8 and loved it but I'd be reluctant about buying another one, or a CX model, a few years down the line. Will the added complication of the cars, combined with the lack of spares/factory support impact their desirability and hence values ?

I think you are on the money there, this lovely 52Reg Plus 8 at 24k is a good example of the descending prices.

What would a Plus 8 with 73k miles normally go for? And this is an auction by the way and states 'from'.

Great feedback for which I'm grateful for. I've got a better idea on what to price it at. Whilst it easy to compare one, say a 4/4, to another, I am of the belief it comes down to spec and condition. When I was in the market for a Defender I could have had one sooner and at a much lower price. Some specs simply don't sell as quick and this can be said of any car. Looking at the 4/4's currently for sale, let's be honest, they either have basic standard paint or interiors, or both! Nothing wrong with that but spec does help.

As with all cars thought, you can't compare one model within a brand to the next. Walk into a Porsche dealer and enquire about a Taycan and they will discount it to no end to shift it. Try doing the same with a 911 and you won't get far. Same goes with CX vs. Trad. Yes, the market has cooled across all brands but some models are hit harder than others. My Defender for example, I sold it for a tad more than I paid. A mate is selling his new style Defender and he's going to take a beating on it.

Forty in peace time in the spring but as there are 52 on C @ C at the moment I don't think this one will move much at all above 24k with that mileage.

Upto a point spec and condition helps sell a car, but the colour of a car is very important. If its not the right colour and a car in demand, it will sit there.

You can convince yourself otherwise , the real proof of the pudding is does it attract buyers, are you getting serious enquiries or just tyre kickers or is the phone dead!

I'm sure that the colour and spec of my Roadster 4 seater helped sell it, but the rare addition of air conditioning (which many people expect these days) among a market place full of nice four seaters made all the difference. There are still 4 seater Roadsters for sale at less money than my Roadster went for, that have been for sale for over a year.........my car sold within 3 months of being offered thru Ledgerwoods, in April last year during the traditional quieter period.

There's a paraffin pink one lady owner nice spec 2016 Plus 4 for sale been advertised quite some time now, price just keeps heading south. It will get to a point it will be worth buying and consider repainting

In the current market, or 'THE' market as it is now and going forward.............spec, mileage and special editions may help to sell a car but probably don't actually make it worth any more........
A sigma 4/4 is worth £30k. Maximum.....🤷🏻‍♂️

The old days of rock solid Morgan prices are gone. Fact. There simply aren't the buyers, at the moment.

Personally I'm trying to hold off all three, especially the last one

TBH I think you can get lucky and sell well, might be better off trying on commission with a dealer. They are still offering cars a good 20 to 30% above private sale prices at the minute so might be worth a shot..
