My daughter and son-in-law had the ground floor of their Oxfordshire cottage flooded on Sunday night. Fortunately the damage has turned out to be not too serious. The assessors were with them quickly, checked the damage and checked the electricity supply. So excellent response from them. I’m not sure of the value of the total claim, but thank goodness they had that insurance policy. A perfect example of why going for a good insurer is money well spent. I frequently hear horror stories of people who buy the cheapest insurance they could find and then act surprised when they have difficulty getting help when it comes time to make a claim. It's not always true in this life that you get what you pay for, but it is indubitably true that you don't get what you don't pay for.

Bud 4/4 - Stanley Quite a few people are unfortunately having to deal with this type of issue, hopefully it will be repaired quite quickly, Are they in an area that tends to flood? Unfortunately, Insurers are increasingly reducing/withdrawing cover from such high risk areas with a history of flooding.

It was a deluge, which was not helped by leaf litter restricting the local drainage. Bud 4/4 - Stanley

Be thankful you don't live in a Wildfire zone as we do, your home insurance premium will be 10 times higher than what you are paying or you are dropped with 30 days notice and very few players to go to.

I got my home ins renewal with basically no changes. The cot shout up 29% so off to visit the fat opra singer & the meerkats. Result the same or higher. A cartel I suspect that is robbing us blind!!! What about all the flood costs? Those have to be paid for. Not ,to mention the cost of living effect on all the other things the companies have to pay for. Price of timber for example.
