I don’t know about any of you boys but I loved this guys style and commitment and I feel just the same way I did when Martin Johnson retired, they were collosal characters and bought so much to the game.

Totally agree with your sentiments. Joe Marler has always been one of rugby’s great characters, as well as a tough competitor. I’ve watched him play on many occasions at Sandy Park. Also, he appeared locally in an “Evening With Joe” It was very entertaining. Good luck to him and his family for the future. Bud 4/4 - Stanley

As you know Martin has a home near us which he and the family Chill out in. He saw me in the Plus 8 one day and wound the window down and commented “what a beautiful car” and having met his wife clearly a man of good taste and quality as she was a Kiwi 😎

Ahh, people on here like rugby ? Marler is so funny, a real sledge man (not that I am a fan of that ) but you have to laugh.. I think he might do the stand up circuit . Claim to fame, played in the same team as and England Captain …………from my age you might guess * answer below. Bit of a Quins fan and was delighted with MS playing for England. I have volunteered for 16 years with our local and enormous rugby club - trouble is we own no pitches. At a Club Gala dinner a rather worse for wear woman thought I was Jason Leonard and was all over me, my wife says - he was one of the speakers . By the way I don’t look like him. Best MM PS used to love parking in the Twickenham ( that name will remain for me) car park with the Morgan in the 70s . Such a good atmosphere- rarely beaten. PPS Hire or stream the film ‘Breakfast with Jonny’. Good grassroots rugby film.
Roger Utley - and sadly only at school rugby level.

Too right like Rugby, last of the Autumn Internationals today, on TNT kick off at 3pm, Ireland v Australia...so hopefully brother in law will whatsapp from NZ for the game, it will be a bit partisan with two Irish supporters watching with me, I hope Australia hands them their pants, I cried so heartily when Ireland ceased to be No1 in the world, oh dear shame when NZ showed them how to play the game. England shows promise, I hope.
I can never remember the name of that Blackpool Policeman who played for England and if I remember correctly got sent off for a punch, those were the days.

Yes, it was a close game, Ireland seems to have lost a little of its edge, there were a couple of occasions had Australia not fumbled, it could have been a different outcome.......the partisan crowd at our house seemed more than a little pleased. I'm off the Guinness and drink at the moment, so I had a clear head this morning more than I can say for others.

Ever tried alcohol free Guinness (cans)... Pretty good and no after effects.
