If I remember correctly Howard and his Fezza mates had a trip round the works and Howard being teetotal asked how did they extract the alcohol - the guide said well we don’t put it in it’s Apple juice. Worth a thought when you glance at some of the prices 😎

Really don’t like that Erdinger stuff ……it’s got an odd aftertaste !?? Brooklyn Brewery do a great low alcohol beer.
MM
PS It’s the one we used at our festival wedding and most non drinking folk enjoyed it. Sadly we had 2 x 35 pints of Dorking Brewery beer left and it only lasts a week. Any Dorking Brewery fans?

Even better is Ketterer, a very small brewery in the Black Forest

Some definitely do taste that way. Waitrose zero alcohol cider just tastes like fizzy applejuice to me.

Back to Joe Marler: In his final game for 'Quins last weekend he politely asked Luke Pearce the referee "if someone scores a try then takes their shirt off, do they get a yellow card", to which Luke Pearce replied: "not tonight for you Joe". Great reffing in my opinion; but he didn't get a try fortunately (or unfortunately!).

Was Joe right about the Haka ? It’s theatre but has it had its day . Surprisingly as a rugby fan ,I tend to agree with him .
Joe said those common sports words - the game (rugby) was good to him but then Joe like said but I wasn’t good to the game I will tell you a beer and Twickenham beer story when I know you all better,
Regards MM
PS we have held a rugby gala night at The Stoop- I think if we do it again and he is on the after dinner speaker circuit, we might have him .
We are big fans of women’s rugby and go to internationals but the female Haka feels a but weak or passé.

The Game of Rugby has changed so much since I was a lad, to keep it more entertaining they have effectively changed the rules to make it faster, every game changes as mass substitutions come on the field, giving an unfair advantage to those teams with greater depth and breadth of reserve in players.

It's a competition the Haka announces that very fact, ok its an anachronism just like singing two Irish songs at the beginning of each game Amhran Na bhfiann (soldiers song) and Ireland's Call, no other team does that. lets leave what little tradition there is left in the game alone.

If you want to change the game for the better and make it more fair , restrict the number of substitutions.

It brings great joy to us all including the ladies games and Alun Jones will never forget Joe and his 10 week ban ;-)

This year with Rob Burrows and Dodie Weir previously passing we thought we would get our 60 Christmas cards from MND it's a drop in the ocean but that's maybe all it will take when a solution is found RIP

Well said but on a lighter note it’s going American with half time entertainment …….
A couple of seasons back , think it was England women v France (a great game we nearly lost ) .the entertainment was from relaunching The Sugar Babes. They walked out and they looked to have enjoyed the good life since being out of the limelight.
I shouted out who ate they The Sugar Lumps. This was the pot calling the kettle black on my part but it doused a real laugh all around us.
Eliss Bexter was another highish profile entertainer last year.
Best MM
PS I now feel very guilty of making that joke - a bit Greg Wallace like. Sorry it just comes from a northern man of a certain age.
It pushed my button .
