Finally, age and health conditions have caught up with me and I now find driving the Morgan to be a painful and difficult process. I took the leap and went to look at a more practical option at a local dealer with a view to trading in the Morgan. The dealer was very up front saying he wouldn’t be looking to keep the Morgan but would get it underwritten which may take a couple of days to work out.
I know this time of year is difficult but I was shocked when he came back saying that none of the UK Morgan dealers wanted it or would give a price and the only car trader that had come back to him had made an offer of £22K.
I was expecting a hit but that is bad. I need to review where to go next, the future doesn’t look good for ownership
Has Morgan desirability fallen that low, my car is a 2016 Plus 4 with 20k miles, FSH with power steering, air con, SSL suspension and every option on the Morgan list.

For such an excellent spec'd Morgan you should see much more than that, if you go for a private sale with a keen price. In fairness, I bought from a non franchised dealer my 2012 Plus 4 sport only 4800 miles for £24k in late August. Other similar spec'd car to mine where up for sale in Morgan dealers for £8k to £10k more than that, Might be worth considering going private sale route, You havetaken the first step by making it visible on here.

Sorry to read of your situation Steve. Some years back I thought my ever stiffening leg was leading to a situation where I might no longer be able to enjoy my Morgan, though I took up a daily exercise regime which freed things up to the extent that I could access and egress the old Mog with a tad more agility..(-: However my Mog spends more time being appreciated as garage art than it spends being appreciated out on the road, perhaps like many..?

I’ve been following prices for quite a while and notice they’ve all taken quite a tumble. Maybe 20-30% in the last 2 years. Most classic cars are the same and older (pre 60s) cars even worse. Seems the exceptions are classic Fords and genuine Veterans. Pal is trying to sell his collection of late 60s to mid 40s cars and prices ant auction are achieving about half what he paid for them.
2012 Plus 4 in Sport Green. Much comfier than the Plus 8!

It is the cost to cgane you need to consider not the absolute values. Hopefully the car you want is also in a slump.

Bottom fell out of the market a while ago sadly. Same with classic bikes a neighbour informed me yesterday. Sorry to read medical issues are pushing you in this direction.

Our local Mini dealership offered me the same £22k for my 2016 4/4 when i was looking at a new JCW. I put it on auto-trader and got £35k, that was summer 2023 though

Market forces are at work. There's no demand and a lot of supply......🤷🏻♂️
£22k does seem pretty low but a dealer has overheads and vat to contend with before they make a profit, if they factor in the current lack of sales and that they might be holding it for months or even years (.....!) they have to protect themselves.
It'll be a struggle to find anyone in the trade mad enough to take a Morgan on in the new market........🤷🏻♂️
A private sale might bring more money but a very competitive price is the only way to guarantee a sale.......

Dealers also have to factor in the 'warranty' aspect - if a gearbox dies a month after sale, they have an obligation to fix so have to factor in a 'worse case' scenario.
I think Morgans traditionally attracted classic car enthusiasts, and they got older they bought newer Morgans that perhaps required less tinkering and fettling. As this cohort get even older, they are having to ditch their vehicles for something easier to get in and out of. I'm seeing this mentioned quite often on the forum.
The classic car/Morgan enthusiasts still exist, but they'll probably go for an earlier model, with the advantages of being MOT/Tax exempt and easier to tinker with, so anything currently beyond 1984 is of less interest, the market is getting over populated, hence the depression in price.
Purely supposition on my part.
