Christmas!
now lets get this in the open straight away - I'm not a big fan of Christmas for lots of reasons but we do out best. Wifey and I try to keep things sensible and buy each other something small (about £50) each year based on something observed during the year. After all if we wanted something 'expensive' then we'd discuss it then just buy it. There's no point in the surprise not being exactly the right thing.
So I offer you this as a topic of discussion should you feel so inclined to participate.
what small thing would you like to receive this year as a present?
For myself I'd quite like a nice 3/8 ratcheting torque wrench.

For me, presents are unimportant... the whole family around one table - this is the best Christmas present

There is nothing I want that I won’t buy for myself. However, a decent bottle of Malt is a nice surprise - should Mrs F be so inclined.
I ordered her gift today. Spent £45. Hopefully I will survive Christmas Day!

I ask my family to give to charity what they would spend on a present for me. I usually give to a homeless charity some money as well.
I find the whole thing over commercialised

I'm not sure which Xmas you mean, the traditional one on the 25th of December or the one that seems to start for some in Oct/November. It certainly has lost all its traditional meaning, so commercial these days. ' We have switched the radio off in the car as I'm fed up already of Mariah's 'All I want for Xmas is you'.........please give it rest, leave it till its closer to Xmas week.
Neighbours have had decorations up since mid November.......we follow the 12 days of Xmas routine and put the decorations up the week before Xmas. Mind you current electricity prices has curtailed some of the excessive external house dressings with lights, around here, which I'm sure some affected neighbours count that blessings.
For us we can buy what we want when we want, so Xmas presents are just tokens. we make more of our wedding anniversary which is in December. We don't do the Xmas card thing, we make a donation to the RNLI
We put greater store in the time we spend with friends over Xmas .or in the past Xmas in Dublin with family. We used to spend Xmas with family in New Zealand for quite a few years usually taking 5 to 6 weeks out touring Australia and NZ. But whilst it was great catching the antipodean summer, it played with your head with all the Xmas decorations everywhere in +30c temps.
