Having secured from a breakers a full stereo system of a 2020 P6 I continued to fit it today.

I already posted fitting the door speakers (here https://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/811187/behind-the-door-card#Post811187) and today I fitted the amp and started on the speakers.

I removed the rear panel and (see how her https://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/809907/creating-stowage-space-on-a-cx#Post809907e) connected up the amp to the loom.
I jury rigged the bluetooth receiver and rear speakers. It worked.



The rear speaker holes exist but mmc seem to have welded the cut out circles of Ali back in at 4 places.
I finished today by sawing through the welds on one and cutting the leather.


I'll post more as I fit the speakers and fit at the front the bluetooth receiver.

I am only attempting it as the wiring loom is in place and the donor kit is wired up. The amp for example has the flying lead to the yellow plug. Off the shelf you need to make that.

That is handy John still a lot of work though there won’t be much of the car left you don’t know about which comes in handy at times.

Yes the front under dash needs to come off next. The build quality is way above any Trad though.

Was the complete wiring for the front and rear speakers and for the 12V connection already in place?

Yes generally & so far so good.
In the doors it was all there.

At the rear the amp came with the connectors including the male yellow part. But I will need to make some extension leads for the rear speakers to allow the panel to slide forward easily.


What I don't know yet is if I can find the RCA leads at the front. Also at the front the power for the bluetooth receiver comes of the cigarette/ power supply lead. The donor car had a plug in cigarette lighter but my car has a USB socket so the connector tabs on my flying lead are - I vs what I need of I I. So I'll need an adaptor cable(s) making up.

I have yet to remove the dash undertray in the passenger foot well to find out.

You can buy the bluetooth receiver and the amp off the web but then you will need to make up the connections. You can upgrade both items and also create front rear fading but I stuck with the simple route.

A great project John and useful information for anyone else embarking on the same task.

I recently did a similar task on a non-Morgan and in spite of having very basic electrical skills, and fearing I'd end up with half a dash and a lot of malfunctioning parts, I managed to get everything back together and the new stereo working. It took me back to the days of my youth where I installed a single cassette deck, with one single button (that was both fast forward and ejected the tape), and a set of small home stereo speakers into my ancient, and very rusty, VW Beetle. Latterly I progressed to installing 'shuttle decks' and then onto stereos with removable faceplates; however, the Beetle install was the one that I felt most out of depth doing and scrolling forward nearly four decades, I felt back to square one with the latest project, having not done anything similar in at least three decades!

I spent this morning fitting the speakers & testing them.
The upside is they are in position.
The downside is the tools no longer fit behind the panel.
It wasn't difficlut just frustrating as the panel is held in the car by the seat belts so it all takes time compared to working on a bench..
That means my back is a tad stiff. so I'll let it rest before fitting the bluetooth receiver.

Some key learnings. I used bolts I had in stock but they were larger diameter than the original ones so I had to open up the slots on the speakers.
The covers I bought are on an angle due to the holes MMC drilled. I never thought of that when buying them but I still think it looks ok.
You do need speaker extension leads to make it easier to connect them up with the panel open.

You're getting there John . Good luck with the final stages. Went through similar trials fitting two rear speakers several years ago. The extra wiring was there and just long enough for the left hand speaker. I recall having to order a second set of 4 inch plastic speaker grills to fit over the 3.5 inch units but the end result didn't look too bad I thought.
