It is not normal for me

This feels as there is a air in the system.
I hope they gave you a good maintained S&S M3W.
When is the braking fluid changed. That should be at least ones in 2 years, better once a year.
Check with a simple brake fluid meter.

Thanks for that - the brakes were ultimately OK when they came on, but the several inches of travel before the "bite" took some getting used to. You may well be right that it's just an adjustment that's required. I should stress that the car was otherwise set up really nicely and presented in lovely condition.
One of the things I've really liked about my Aero is just how confidence-inspiring the brakes are - as good as any car that I've driven. I imagine you can't achieve quite the same with a three wheeler in part because there is so much less contact rubber to brake with. Does the rear disc brake conversion make much difference?

Adjust the pedal and or seating position to improve feel.
Rear disc brake does certainly improve the 'feel'.
Might be less contact rubber but its having to stop a lot less weight than a traditional car. Personally never had an issue with the braking side of things. (rear disc fitted and pedals all set up to my liking).

What I find exhausting on my 5-speed is not the vibration, but that there is no place to stretch my feet. I have well over 20k miles on mne and several 200-400 miles days.
Another down side, mine now burns a quart of oil every 200 miles an X-wedge parts are made on unobtanium.

On my more usual local runs in my old +8 oil consumption was never a problem as I usually covered no more than a max of 300 miles in a day. Many years back when heading through France for Italy from Central Scotland I had taken a pint of my usual oil with me, and stopping to fuel up I checked the oil too, though the large petrol station having loads of brands to choose from, none of which were known to me, until i spotted a can of STP oil treatment, I added that and did not require to add oil for the rest of the circa 4K mile trip...

I have read where the use of STP has been frowned upon, and have not used it after subsequent oil changes as that was the last long trip I made..but it worked for me at the time..Whether if it is still available or might be mixed with modern oils, I have no idea, Just thought to share the story.

I own a super 3 //.2 month with this funny car.I am glad and happy.
a modern car, no problem .It is perfect in its own way.
I have driven a plus 8 for 40 years .a wonderful companion for all this time.
But now I no longer have to sorry about getting stuck in long highway construction
zones.It is a different feeling, but it is also a new and different time.
you don't have to worry about so many things
take the car out of the Garage like a normal every day car.
I am happy and satisfied with my decision for a super 3
It is not the feeling of a classic car.
But the super 3 is a fun and soulful modern companion.
