Hello Mogsters,
I would be grateful if someone could catalogue the build changes in Pus 4 CX cars over recent years. I am thinking of trading my trad in for a CX Plus 4, and there is an attractive car available in 21, 22, 24 and 25 build years. The only thing I (think) I know is that airbags were mandatory after 22. Are there any other significant changes? Are air conditioning and heated seats standard? Can the Dynamic Drive option be retrofitted? Anything else?
Thanks,, David

I was looking at the Plus Four before I "accidentally" acquired my Plus Six.
IMHO, there's nothing wrong with any of the model years provided, if you go for an earlier MY, it has been properly sorted. Early cars were subject to a recall for radiators and (I believe) brakes; check this has been done. Changes were made to the hood fastening to improve weather sealing, but if you never take the car out in the rain why worry?
Yes, you have the airbags in the MY23 cars (anything registered around November 2022 and thereafter) and also traction control / stability control, both of which are useful, but then you also lose the ability to change the steering wheel to anything other than the one that came with the car.
Air con is an optional extra, but could be retrofitted. I think heated seats are the same, though others will have better knowledge.
Sorry it's not comprehensive, nor really a catalogue, but I did spend a few months in a similar situation to you and came to the conclusion that as much as I would like a Mota Lita steering wheel on my Mog I'd prefer something softer to hit should the worst happen, so a MY23 became my minimum benchmark.

My understanding is this , though I could be wrong.
The early cars had rock hard seats and a hood with side flaps. The power socket was a cigarette lighter. MY 22 cars have more padded seats , a hood that doesn't need side flaps to be water proof . USB power sockets . But most important the suspension geometry was upgraded as was the build quality.
MY23 cars have the airbags, redesigned dash & display with a glovebox & riflebolt door handles. The brake supplier was changed & the autobox was standard & th manual optional. Nitron suspension was introduced late in the model run I think.
MY24 came with the redsigned lights, new wing mirrors. The radiator supplier was changed.
MMC have price lists by year on their website so you can see when things became standard from optional.
My view is buy MY22 or after. Unless of course you find a well sorted early car with decent seats.

This could be one to look at; it was in my shortlist for a while, and it's close to where you are. The dealer may need to appreciate that his price could still come down, however. https://www.ajautos.com/details/use...n/plus4/2.0i-auto-euro-6-ss-2dr/1298242/

The only thing I (think) I know is that airbags were mandatory after 22. I’m the opposite of @High Hamster. ‘22 is the sweet spot in my opinion as you can stick a Moto Lita steering wheel on it. ‘23 to date and you are stuck with the standard awfully ugly modern airbag steering wheel. Deal breaker for me - one of the reasons I went for my ‘22.

@Dave - one day Mota Lita will provide an airbag option, then I'll join you. Your not the polar opposite; I did agree that I would prefer the look and feel of a Mota Lita, just not the impact it would currently make in an accident.
Happy New Year.

Here's a Mota Lita steering wheel boss for a Mini which allows for the retention of the OEM airbag. Surely someone out there can do something similar for the later CX models? I'd go for that. Mota Lita boss for Mini

Mota Lita boss for MiniSorry, but you have to REMOVE the airbag wheel (it just retains the rest of the SRS system, which on Classic Mini's is very basic anyway)
