Once Tony Bliar got one for duplicity and out and out lying it was all over for me, the Gulf war and persecution of the top scientist should cause him nightmares, you know it won’t though and Stumbler is suitably qualified also …

I didn't take the liberty of Googling a knighthood list because it would only make me gasp with disbelief.
The Lords is a total fiasco. 820 on £350 a day expenses? It should be abolished totally, or limited to five years, or compulsory retirement at 70.
And how many do two jobs, because they are such accomplished bullshitters?
Exasperation doesn't do it justice.
And don't tell me you need to pay high wages to get the best. Look around at both front benches. When it gets to the point at which I'm agreeing with Diane Abbott, all hope is lost.

Decided to not be grumpy in 2025 BUT what’s with this LNYDP - London New York Damp Parade.. It’s all American and the American joint presenters comments are banal. Reminds me of a Frazier episode. Is it aimed at promoting tourism showing the rain, grey skys and miserable faces which would want me to go to warmer places. We took the kids once, it was cold, rainy and the food and coffee from Starbucks made me wince. We went home early & broke. And what about the tv during the festive break. Gavin and Stace, rubbish, Outnumbered, sadly pants. Thankfully we had Its a wonderful life , Goodbye Mr Chips and that Christmas tale Guns of Naverone Thankfully the presenter is promoting overnight stays at Hamleys at £6000 a pop . Best to all, MM PS TV off now and having more fun doing my self assessment tax return. Starmer starting his NY message talking about football failure got my day off well. Must have same writer as Welby !! Hmm feeling better & positive now as I owe so little in tax - perhaps I might feel even better if I owed more. Life’s confusing.

Been told off by the wife who also hates the parade . She said at least the young are out and enjoying themselves & I just need to stop watching things that annoy me. MM PS Geely Volvo guy told me they are developing a synthetic engine to launch in a few years as they don’t believe EV will not work well in U.K. and other markets. That’s good news.

I hope this is not drifting too much off piste but we have a Minister For High Streets, did you know? Apparently to regenerate the High Streets throughout the country post pandemic. The funny thing is that so much rapid change is going on that High Streets may be doomed to become back streets. So why don't we have a Minister For Back Streets ? Even a Minister for Street Parties !! https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/future-high-streets-fund

I reckon high streets will reinvent as 'night-time economy'/entertainment areas .. food, bars, clubs, fun (laser-tag, escape room sort of stuff) and maybe quirky individual 'arty' outlets .... mainstream retail in physical form seems on a slide towards the internet ... with what shops there are open unconventional hours to match the reveller's footfall and appeal to that demographic.

It would not take much to drive that approach. At least it would save some of it.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

It's comforting to see that everyone has kicked off the new year in a tolerant, happy and forgiving mood....................NOT..........😆
Awards and honors.... who cares...🤷🏻♂️ I agree that some low rent, Z list, nobodies have got them. They are perhaps at the populist end of the scale, but every year a lot of worthwhile folk do get them. They need to stay, they're another quirk of Britishness.
House of Lords..... why not..... just leave it alone, yes a few old farts probably should retire, perhaps it does need 'reform' whatever that really means. Some scrutiny of the commons is surely required........🤷🏻♂️

Most of the older towns have smaller shops started out where the bottom ground floor was the shop front with owners accommodation at the back and above on the first floor. Rather than create a boozy town centres and all the antisocial behaviour that goes with it and the increased level of Policing and the resultant Emergency Department influx in the early hours of the morning.
We need housing, so convert the shops back into homes. We also have had several modern office blocks converted into apartments. (usual asbestos removal issues) bring life back into the town centres by making them into houses. Failing renovation or conversion, just knock the shops down that are in excess of current footfall and build more houses there. Try to Cnut the wave of change to shopping centres, is not the answer neither is creating more drinking establishments,
Local planners allowed far more recreational late night establishments to be developed in Lytham in response to vacant shops and it has had a very detrimental impact on the town centre with increased crime and drugs, antisocial behaviour as out of towners catch the train to Lytham and cause major issues for residents. For the first time ever we had a stabbing in the town on NY eve, quite shocking for a town which is considered one of the most affluent and desirable residential retirement places to live in the NW.
They already have Blackpool just up the road for late night drinking and clubbing with its resultant police and NHS emergency dept, issues, why create even more havoc.
