A few years back we stayed at the Otterburn Castle hotel. used it as a base and then did day trips out to places like Craster, Jedburgh, Kielder, Hadrian's Wall, Bebbanburg etc etc. There are no crap roads and loads of wonderful countryside, we had a splendid time. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/01/03/TJH_1726.jpeg)

There is so much to see there that you will struggle to refine your list. A day spent touring Kielder is well worthwhile. Alnwick castle is interesting - if a little dominated by Harry Potter when we last went. Bamburgh Castle is well worth a visit. And any visit to the area must include Cragside NT.
Near Barnard Castle is the Morritt Hotel at Greta Bridge - unless it has changed a lot it’s well worth avoiding at all costs.

Pedant alert - County Durham!

Wonder what happened to ‘Jack the Lad’ of that region? - still one of the most prolific posters despite last seen in 2021.

Wonder what happened to ‘Jack the Lad’ of that region? - still one of the most prolific posters despite last seen in 2021. A couple of folk at the time on here were pissing him off so he gave it up. Last time I contacted John he was helping build a house for his daughter.
