I wonder if the software records and stores how many times you use LC, so the mfr can invoke the small print and wriggle out of a warranty claim ?

I understand Fords line lock and burnout mode can only be used back to back a limited nr of times

One of my roles is to make sure the muppet behind the wheel isn't using it - the slow creep that often accompanies launch control can tear the heck out of our tarmac.
Anyway, if I'm not in hill control I want to be in a location where I have regular cups of tea delivered, so Start Line it is

Anyone with an ounce, (or even microgram) of mechanical sympathy would not ever dream of abusing a car like that. Sadly I suspect most can't visualise what's going on inside the mechanical parts. It's only when you see twisted and sheared halfshafts, and broken cranks and so on that it becomes apparent that steel actually breaks.

I can't get my head around leaving it in drive when I get to a set of traffic lights let alone the Launch control Fandango.......

Many many years ago I had a boss who had not long passed his driving test. His first car was a company car. He wasn't a great driver. His car was off the road and they gave him a 2.0L Granada Automatic in the interim. He was moaning about how slow it was away from the lights. I suggested that a simple technique of both feet to the floor - one on throttle the other on brake - followed by an instantaneous release of the brakes would give him a faster getaway.

I had forgotten who I was talking to and neglected to to tell him in simple terms - "Only try this in a straight line on a dry road".

Near the office was a traffic light controlled T junction with a lovely wrought iron security fence alongside the bar of the T (double glazing firm in those days IIRC).

A few days after our conversation, he tried the tactic at this junction. He embedded the poor Granada in the fence backwards. Fortunately he didn't hit anyone else and wasn't hurt.

The problem with common sense is that it is rather uncommon.

So the manufacturer could call it the CDLC feature. Car destroying launch control.

I will admit to finding it annoying when travelling with the good lady that at the lights she leaves the gear selected with the clutch depressed, I just don’t do through mechanical sympathy - sad I know.

Launch control best left 🚀 I reckon stupidity at it’s best on roads.

On the series1 Aero if you planted it in first gear even with the LSD the rear would slide 2 to 3 feet to the left. For anyone who has done the same in a plus 6 in sport mode on the paddles you need a wide bit of road the rear comes out and it will spin the wheels up to fourth gear and given the instentanious gear change it's quite a rush. In my 11k miles so far the back has never lost traction even in the wet but if you donkey about it will bite you hard. Launch control is total nonsense.

It's as well to know what they are capable of, on a damp road I squirted my first Plus 8 a bit too much and the back stepped out big time and never forget after a big slide and just offer up a quick one that nobody else was on that bit of road at the time as once it goes you are a passenger.

LC akin to Bunjee jumping pretty pointless and dangerous and/or messy for the unfortunates that have to pick the bits up for an inquest and that falls on our overworked blue lighters..
