If you have a radio/CD player, it might require the original code to operate it if the battery has been disconnected. I've had a few cars with this 'feature'. That's a good point. I've still got that fortunately. Thanks.

If you do have a radio code or you are not sure then connect your ctec at the main power fuse, car side and a good earth. The battery is a faf to work on or remove so makes things a little easier!

I would shy away from using a battery charger without a battery load. Older ones without good or worse no regulation can have the voltage soaring. In any case they are not designed to function as a 12 volt power source, especially ones designed to auto sense a 6 volt battery.
