For me it would depend where I lived.

When we were lving in Kenya I wanted a Toyota Landcruiser.
I did Route 66 (& this year we will do Yosemite & highway 1) in a Mustang convertible.

In the UK I think my CX would have to be it.

But then again...... Tis not so easy is it.

Well having discovered this maybe I will change my mind.. Easier to park down here but sticking with the early SE5a GTE as they have the far nicer non velour seats unlike the SE6, leather if specced.

The problem is I find it so easy to fall in love.

Wicked Graham definitely one to follow, it looks totally mental and huge fun.

It would be a sad day if we were forced to have just one car but if that were the case then I would need comfort, pace, reliability, economy and capacity. Of all the cars we’ve owned (123 at the last count) all the sports cars would be eliminated on carrying capacity - we need to move 4 people and a wheelchair sometimes. The Land Rovers are all too uneconomical and too uncomfortable for 400 miles in one go journeys. Many others could be eliminated equally easily leaving a toss up between my old BMW 5 series touring and my current Audi Q5. I think the Audi would win by a whisker as its extra ground clearance proved invaluable in the storms pre Xmas. It’s only drawback is it’s a bit tedious!

I guess that’s why I’m struggling to replace it - I’ve been looking for about 6 months but nothing I look at is better, just newer!

So much truth in what is right for where you live, I never really got into riding a Harley Davidson was all about until we crossed from Baltimore to the mid west on one, It was what the bike was designed for, same with a Mustang.....outside of urban areas vast distances and often very straight US Highways

Difficult luxury question (if you have more than one car). I wouldn't take the watering can for a bit of sportiness, a bit of comfort etc. I would take a car that I know very well and that I have always loved driving everywhere. My still existing 1968 Mecedes 230 6 cyl. Apart from its drunkenness I love this car, so many trips in the late 90's and 2000's with our then young children. So much space, comfort, style and already handling characteristics of the engine and chassis that are still good today. Plus that fantastic feeling of being on the road, driving as driving. Not a bit sporty, but all the other things and the great sympathy. Here a photo from a 1996 printed pic. She still looks the same today without any welding.

My friend had one, whilst a beautiful car with a fabulous interior, I only drove it once and everything felt like it isolated the driver from every convenient truth as part of the luxury conveyance it was, but so remote from reality that I didn't enjoy it that much. Nice cars but too cossetting for me.
