So I'm torn. I think I need to see the Supersport in the original to decide whether I like it or not.
In any case, I wish Morgan good sales figures smile

Fair bit more information available now following this mornings launch and have to say the looks are growing on me. I think the colour will make a big difference. I tried the car configurator but it’s still not set up to cope with the apple universe so had a look at the price list and reassuringly the £102,000 price will rise significantly once specked up.
Not sure my comments are that relevant as I can’t afford one but if I could I would be tempted but in addition to my trad.

Being local to factory, I was invited a few weeks ago to a preview, I personally liked it, a modern take . It’s got a slightly longer front end, the doors are very solid and thick, the side screen removal is easy and they fit in the boot which you open by swiping your foot under it. Very comfortable seats. I also liked the bonnet without the louvres . Engine a well know power plant. Back window reminds me of Porsche Targa. It’s certainly fresher looking. I’m a fan of hard top as I have one permanently on my Plus 6. As I said a few days ago, I was told at preview, 180 orders on book, comes as standard with hard top, you pay £2500 approx for soft top as an extra on these first batch of cars. £120k was the price stated of that particular car. Makes the last Plus 6 look expensive.
All they have to do now is get rid of the wood. That’s coming I’m sure.

I like it. I can't afford one though. Keep hoping premium bonds will enable purchase of a new Morgan but not a tickle recently.

Love:

The volume, curves, bulges and the chamfers on the wings

The projected front cowl

Proportion of the headlights to the front end

The height of the front spoiler/lower grill thingy whatever it’s called

The hard top

The vents and louvre details

The fact they’ve kept the side screens

Unsure about:

The side elevation and three quarter angle with the flat windscreen and long bonnet. With all the other curves and chamfers, the windscreen looks maybe awkwardly.. er.. very, very flat.

The lack of any detail on the bonnet, just looks very wide, flat and plain from above. I feel I need to draw on some louvres in black crayon

Everyone to their own..

Although the Supersport looks more like today's automotive technology in many details (e.g. profile reinforcements on the boot lid) the car it is not my cup of tea.

For example I don't like the rear view and why on earth did they change the grille and destroy the Morgan look of the front?
Other car companies have their grille design protected by law and Morgan changes the waterfall grille....

And from some perspectives (diagonally from behind/above), the design with the hardtop reminds me a lot of the +4+.

I've always missed the balanced Morgan proportions on the +4+.

And yes: I wish MMC a large success with this car.

Watched the live stream (whilst on a skiing break in Austria which shows an unhealthy interest in cars) and liked the Supersport from the off. In my view MMC have trodden the fine line between the modern and traditional rather well. I like the functional aspects below the sill/bumper line, as I do on the SuperThree, I am glad the bonnet louvres have gone, the doors are obviously vastly superior and the Marcos like rear is appealing as well as useful. Even the price was a pleasant surprise being not much dearer than the outgoing Plus Six.

Most importantly Morgan have really focused on how the car goes down the road, which is exactly as it should be. I tried and didn’t like Morgans prior to the CX platform. As the owner of a Plus Four I have enjoyed the recent coverage in the motoring media in which journalists have genuinely found the car to be good to drive and if the Supersport moves that on then that can only be a good thing. Well done MMC - if only they could get hold of the Supra derived manual ‘box…
