I would like to have any advice on the fitting of sun visors to a 1994 4/4?

It would seem that a previous owner has ‘reversed’ the windscreen to fit an Easifit hood and now the 10 studs for the roof have been removed and the holes filled. Can any member advise on the hole size/thread gauge that previously had the roof studs fitted.

Any information gratefully received.

Peter, The windscreen chrome surround has standard fitted threaded posts in the correct place to accept the visor screws. You need these for two reasons, 1 to space the visor from the screen surround and 2 so the screws do not contact the edge of the glass within the screen surround. so a tricky one here! People do sell spare windscreens from time to time or try contacting dealers to see if they have any lying around they'd be willing to sell. I have to say I have sun visors and to be frank they are not much use. I hate baseball hats as I look like billy bunter in one but in all honesty I find them to be the best option!

Have a look at https://mogparts.net/product/sun-visors-for-morgans-clip-to-top-of-windscreen-10-stud-type-only they might suit. Not cheap, but much cheaper than potentially wrecking the windscreen in an atempt to retro-fit the spacer type. frown

Another amateur radio operator - welcome Peter!
I don't think there were fittings for sun visors in 1994, certainly my 1993 4/4 did not have said threaded posts, nor holes drilled and tapped for them. My '97 +4 may have done, I can't remember now.
It's either a peaked cap, probably of the baseball variety, or if you can find any those that clip over the top of the windscreen?

I suspect too wide for a 90's 4/4, so will need measuring accurately

See my clipped-on sunvisors on my 1990 4/4 4-seater with traditional hood. Works well, in the background Lago di Garda!

Gentlemen,

Thank you for all your advice and indeed about the Roadster screen. Unfortunately too far to travel and a risk it may not fit. I agree baseball caps are not really for me but I will dig out my Yaesu and Kenwood caps! In amateur radio circles I will sign off with 73 but otherwise best wishes.
