Having done a good few hundred miles with the good weather top down we stopped the other day and decided to put the roof up for security. Well I had a bit of a shock to say the least the folds in the roof was caked in brown salt ingrained along the width of the car it looked like a barn find. Having not long Renovo'd the roof and waterproofed it all was well after a bit of a wash. I find the roof cover a bit of a faff to fit to be honest and only used it once it all seems very tight when fitted with two poppers unclipped. Anybody done any mods to the roof cover to make it easier. Em

I've a MY22 (late 2021 build) and my mate has a 2022 model - both Plus Fours.. there is however a slight difference in the roof cover between the two cars. mine is slightly more tapered and rounded towards the front poppers & a right faff to get done up. My mates however cover is slightly more box shaped and appears to fit slightly better. Easiest was of describing mine is like an old cheap pair of skintight jeans where the outside seam was slightly twisted the further it went down the leg!

Why it's made like this, I really dont know!

Thanks Papaflump mine is the same I think the previous owner scratched the rear window quite badly trying to get it all in the cover. It was probably cut out on a template but never fitted at the factory. I might try velcro straps It worked quite well on the huge roof we had on our 2008 four seater, compressed it might just fit .

No worries, I've found I can get all to poppers back in much more easily (ha ha)... if I tip both seats forward and lift the hood up to a central point, so it almost looks like a 'Targa Bar' this allows me to get to the pesky hard to reach ones slightly easier.

The Trad hood cover is a pain to fit anyway with so many poppers, it makes it not worth the effort. Plus the fact that when touring, if you have to remove it, it takes up a lot of space. A Simmonds hood cover also came with my Roadster. It's a rather square design but much easier to fit and has a single heavy duty zip around the inside. Oh and it's shiny black leather.

For touring I asked Allon White to make me a tonneau cover with the zip side to side ( just behind the seats)so that it forms a hood cover / luggage cover. When we stop, I recline the seats forward to the max (easier than removing head rests) and zip the front half on. It easily fixes to the tonneau cover studs on the scuttle and keeps the sun off the seats whilst affording a degree of security.

I love my Simmonds 3-zip tonneau cover. Wraps around the hood to keep it neat, can be driven solo with just the passenger side covered, in cold weather with the side screens off you can use the side cover to reduce cold draughts into the cockpit, it's a masterpiece.

If I had a criticism it's that unless you're careful about how you roll it up behind the seats it can drag on the seat belt a bit but I've had the thing over 13 years and never found the need to do anything about it.

Left the house this morning like a fastidious Morgan owner the roof all stuffed in like a burst sausage two clips impossible. Never again consigned to a shelf in the garage what a faff life's too short. Em
