Hi all,
We are aiming to do our 4th trip from N. Ireland to France in our series 1 Aero. We have done, Loire, Brittany, Normandy, Champagne, Dordogne, and Biarritz.
This time the aim is to head quickly to Verdon Gorge then, Hyeres, Chateau Neuf du Pape, Carcossone, Pau, Bilbao and home by ferry from there.
Any ‘must see’ places along that rough route? Any must drive roads?
Ian

If you pass by Grenoble, then the Vercors Massif to the south west of the city is worth a look.

Travelling in France with the Morgan is made so much easier if you have an "Emovis" tag. This is an electronic tag which allows you to shoot straight through motorway toll booths -- no more struggling to get out of the Mog because the passenger can't reach the toll machine, dropping the change or credit card on the ground and then climbing back in all while a line of impatient frogs gathers behind. Google "Emovis". Their UK office is in Harrogate.

The gorge is stunning and an exciting drive. Carcassone castle is a bit like Disney Land. Not my favourite. Towns and village in the south down the B roads are lovely.

Route Napoleon from Grenoble towards Nice. Avignon is lovely as is the Camargue. Take in Andorra, great roads and some of the cheapest fuel in Europe. What about a diversion west of Bilbao to the Picos. PM me if you want more details- routes, hotels.

Heading to Pau from the east, take road from Argelès-Gazost up Val d Azun towards Col de Soulor then to Col d’Aubisque before descending into valley and a north turn towards Pau. To make it even better, start at Bagneres de Bigorre and route via Col de Tourmalet then descend through Luz St Sauveur and towards Argeles.
