The MOG plate thing I just find jarring. Not sure why. Mog is a cat or a Morris Minor. Maybe that's why.
I prefer MGN to be honest and I got that for my P4. My Roadster just has a short plate which came free with a new MGB. So it hasn't cost much.

I have got 3 cars with personalised plates all of which relate to the previous owners, not me.
I guess it says something that none of them wanted to transfer the plates on.

I got mine originally as I used the mog for business and I got fed up with people's comments about how much I must be making...I was buying a new one every 2 or 3 years. So I just wanted an ageless one. When I went back to an older car the reg m11tok wasn't old enough so I put it on retention. My current plus 4 just has it's original reg. Actually it was a disappointment to me. For many years my client's comments were all about what a lovely car, work of art, do you look after it yourself etc. then, over a period of only 2 or 3 years all the comments changed to.. they're worth alot of money and suchlike. Something got spoiled in society. Nick

K1HTF was already on my first Morgan a 4/4. Have retained it on the following 2 Morgan’s. Haven’t a clue who or what HTF relates to.
Have B1ADF on retention which used to adorn the Fireblade. A pair of carefully located black fixing bolts to the right of the 1 and the F used to attract comments from plod on occasions….

I'm not a fan of personalised plates although it does disguise the age of your car. My mog has its original 6 digit reg from 1957 which I wouldn't change. As an aside I am currently in Auckland NZ where many reg plates are personalised. I think it was a large SUV that drove past the cafe where we were having brunch yesterday which had the reg "IM POSH". Nuff said.

The MOG plate thing I just find jarring. Not sure why. Mog is a cat or a Morris Minor. Maybe that's why. That's my view too. I've no problem with personal registrations per se but I wouldn't want a "MOG" one. By which I mean I want to not have one, which is a bit of an issue when a car you want to buy does! My current 4/4 has a dateless 6-digit registration "KPX". I chose it because it is a West Sussex registration, appropriate for the Goodwood Revival but otherwise meaningless. (While looking for a dateless registration for my next car I've discovered that "1 WEG" is available, but the £35K asking price would severely eat into my budget!)

Ian, you can apply to the DVLA to have the original reg back on your proposed new Morgan, then put the special MOG one on retention and sell it

All my moggies have had MOG plates, I have no problem either way however should you want one, I am informed that they can be quite expensive.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

I used to have BIGGLES as my private plate but when I moved to Colorado they refused as it is apparently racist, in my anger I applied for WNKER and was accepted - go figure.

![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2024/10/13/20240506_103058.jpg) I'm rather fond of mine. My daughter asked my wife if I knew the meaning of '69'? 😀
