We want to travel Britain and also a short stay in London.
Not shure about the car, a 2022 VW Polo (Benzin) or the 2018 Morgan Plus4, both with german Registration.
As I read I must „register“ the car for to travel in ULEZ-Zone. They ask for the cars paperwork. But in cause we‘ve got no V5 is it the „COC“? or the german „Zulassungsbescheinigung“? And there is something written about pictures?
Pictures? If we travel with the MOG hood up or down? Or both?
For me as a German a very strange thing, as known the Germans are a little back in time about cameracontrolled traffic (not far away from the Flintstones).
Thank you for your help!
Greets René

Hi Rene, On this link for tfl towards the bottom you can put your car model and type in and it will tell you the fees. From the rest of the article it says they TFL shared data from Germany, France and the Netherlands so don't worry about inputting your car registration they already have your address. Just make sure you pay promptly then the "fine" is halved, I know as I drove in a bus lane in the Morgan and have a nice black and white shot of it from the camera Enjoy the fact the cameras have yet to inflict "control" on you all out there It has been responsible for causing divorces here as the resolution is sehr gut ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/04/10/Boris1.jpeg)

If it were me, I would find a hotel with secure parking outside the ULEZ zone and use public transport to get around. Somewhere near London Heathrow for example where there are excellent transport connections into the city (Heathrow Express rail is good).
Driving in central London is far from fun. I only ever drive there when there is no alternative.

Somewhere my navigator has got one very similar of the Eiffel Tower and a lot more traffic when we got hopelessly lost in Paris trying to get back from visiting Versailles in the Mog...I was not amused

Registration is done.
It‘s a little funny job. Answering the questions they ask for pictures of: Fahrzeugschein, COC and front, side, back and interior of the car. So a quick run to the (1/4 miles away) garage, rolling the MOG out, taking the pictures (hmmm - hood up or down?) and back to the process.
„Opening“ the question „Upload“. Than: surprise, surprise! You can upload much more pictures and they say: show how much details of your car as you can!
Now my MOG is registrated with hood up, but I think this expierence could help the next tourist.
Yes, I got a very cheap hotel. One of the Holiday Inn Express…
Looking forward to enjoy the British landscape.

Rene, well done it really will be worth it for the experience. We shall be looking forward to pictures of your adventure 😎 Be very careful on the M25 as the variable limits can easily catch you out, they have a camera on each lane on each overhead gantry. The yellow posted average speed one’s are easy to miss also at the roadside.
You will have a great adventure and it reminds me a little of our first of many trips to Germany, we arrived on the Hamlet into Hamburg in our Ami 8 and drove through the centre of the city for a look see. A great experience with the drivers quick but positive and fitting in with the Ami on the rev limiter worked ok. We got to Oslo and ran out of money so retraced our steps.
We didn't book one overnight, just turned up and always found somewhere nice and not too expensive.

Rene, if the Orange Gibbon carries on his antics London Bridge could well look like this 1920's picture again soon ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/04/15/london.jpg) London Bridge in the 1920s retained much of its classic form while adjusting to the pace of a modernising capital. The bridge carried a mix of pedestrians, buses, and early cars between the financial district and South London. Iron railings lined the edges, and gas lamps still lit the way after dark. Office workers crossed the river in great numbers during the morning and evening rush, forming waves of motion with briefcases and newspapers in hand. The view from the bridge revealed a skyline of spires and cranes, with barges passing steadily below. London Bridge offered a daily journey between tradition and progress.
