Good buy?
An acquaintance has asked me to go with him to look at a 2020 110 Anniversary Roadster which is for sale locally at a non-specialist car sales centre.
It only has 7,000 miles on the clock. I know nothing about its history, is there anything that we should be aware of when checking the car?

Yes good buy in my heavily biased opinion innocent. It will have the factory 5 link coil sprung rear and slightly narrower gearbox cover. The 110 anniversary models also had a lot of free factory options so hopefully a front spoiler was ticked on factory order.

Apart from the obvious check front brake flex hoses for chaffing against the much needed brake reaction bars, that hopefully were spec'd, and protect if necessary. There is also a single rear flex hose on nearside that was brought to my attention recently. It can chafe on fuel tank during suspension articulation. Ditto handbrake cable which rubs against nose of diff housing.

The obvious trad issues with so little use. I assume rear drum brakes so the piston seals are probably shot. Tyre condition and age.
The plastic rads fail. I have one off my 2014 Roadster that I replaced but wasn't leaking when removed your friend can have foc if it helps.
The rubber boot on the rack and pinion can split.

When were the brake and clutch fluids last checked?

Go on the dvla website and check it's MOT history.

I would question why the mileage is so low.

Richard's and John's lists are great, I would add to budget for a set of new tyres, they will still look great at 7k miles but will have gone hard and probably flat spotted on an underused Mog

Potentially a great car, just warn your mate that there's almost 280hp with NO driver aids like TC for example - and a few have ended up in hedges

Thank you for your replies. It will be the first one he's looked at, don't think he'll making a quick decision. It will be interesting to learn of the history.
Thanks once again.

The mot checker shows very little usage year to year. I'd check also if the battery has been on a conditioner

Check clutch fluid for debris. My clutch master cylinder failed after 7000 miles.
Check switching between high beam and low beam. The light stalk switch on the settring column can fail.

Once again, thanks for the replies; looked at the car today, it seems it was suppllied by a Morgan dealer to it's first owner; dealer then decided to put it into the trade for reasons that are not clear at the moment; {?}.
It's not my personal choice of colour combination, but overall seems OK, although, based on recent auction results, it's a bit of an optomistic price! I think. Weather wasn't that good, so decided it wasn't a good idea to do test drive!

Taking of auction prices, the below looked a great bargain for someone..

£19.5k for a mint 2002 +8.

I expect the red / cream colour combo isn’t quite as popular these days but still a great buy.

Not sure what the asking price is but £50k region would be about right or less if some re-commissioning was required.
