For those travelling in France, remember M3W Services have a workshop in Department 47 near Bergerac.
M3W Services carry a lot of spare parts and have rescued a few UK M3W's over recent years in France & Spain.

Follow up for future information;

I am using the RAC comprehensive plus cover for the 10 days we’re away. There are reasons and previous experiences as to why and I known Gott and Wynns cover is good and very cheap. However, from experience that we don’t need to get into, I’m using RAC and have had quite an eye opening experience with purchasing. About £159 on line, £139 using a Services Discount scheme and £110 ringing the RAC direct.

If any one else is looking, go direct, but I’m sure someone will show me a cheaper way

We have the RAC cover as well while in France touring, it does not cover miss-fueling, but everything else is way better than alternatives. You only have to read all the weasel words in the fine print of the various breakdown cover policys to see they are not great. The RAC top cover is not cheap by any measure, but it does give some security of a minimum standard and ability to get your vehicle home if things go wrong and still continue your journey in a hire car.
