As reported, we visit Britan.
And we stay in a B&B in the Middle of nowhere with VERY bad roads. Potholes so deep, you can store your 15“ (or also) 16“ wheel in it. The width is so small, only a few inches left on both sides of the MOG.
So far no problem, that‘s the way we must do. Also there is a small ford.
But all this thing aren‘t my problem. The most time I drive in the first and let car idle or a little bit more. The temperature climbs up to 100C, but not more. This is for approx. 1-2 miles small hills up and down.
But it looks the MOG doesn‘t like it. Today he suddently stops his work one or two times when he was free Rolling, the clutch was pressed and struggles (nearly off) when I let him rolling in the first for hold the speed.
Must I be affraid about it? Or is it „usual“ about the „unusual“ use?
The car has the first set of spark plugs with 39000KM/ 25000miles on the clock. When I read the manual the must do much miles…
Thank your for your idea/diagnostic!
Greets René

Rene When my Plus 4 lost all power last October, I didn't establish why. But a couple of owners who contacted me later both suffered bad running on hot days, which cleared after cooling down.
I had double wrapped my exhaust manifold in an effort to get emissions down but this might have been a step too far.
See how you go tomorrow but try to keep it cool if possible.

Fuel vaporisation comes to mind René. There are extended bonnet catches as here which help in keeping under bonnet temperatures down. Wolf Performance offer them as well.

I'm not sure I can help with what the problem is but it's definitely not "normal". I've had my GDi for nearly ten years now and have never experienced what you are describing. I would definitely start by changing your spark plugs though if they have never been changed. Good luck.

Fuel vaporisation comes to mind René. There are extended bonnet catches as here which help in keeping under bonnet temperatures down. Wolf Performance offer them as well. That‘s what I think too. Or the CDI would struggle with the low revs and heat. But the „problem“ is only at very slow speed. So I‘m affraid with physical logic the Wolf Parts wouldn‘t help. The Wolf parts give more airflow when the car moves a little faster. At very low speed the heat „stuck“ under the bonnet and can‘t Go out at the top. So more Louvres on the top? Today it runs well as there was never something strange. Greets René
