Welcome Mateo (San Mateo CA ?)

Good choice, just buy it. I also think the brighter tone will be good under the US stronger sunlight which will bring it out more than our slightly dull daylight. I often think Fiats look better in Italy for this reason.

I have enjoyed every moment of my S2 ownership and did have to make all the usual "adjustments" as it was a garage queen prior to my ownership. It will be an onward step to a Max or Supersport I guess. I am just settling things prior to making the jump at some point in the future. (Max for me)

If you think the E90 prepares you for the Aero it won't it cannot match the wonderful/crazy experience.

If you are San Mateo based then pm me as I am over there often and would love to see peoples faces as you drive around the valley. You will never be lonely that's for certain !

pm me if you need to discuss S2 foibles. They all need love.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Hi Mateo

I've just purchased an Aero 8 (10 days ago). Like you it was the car I'd always wanted. The car I've purchased is an S3 in Bentley Silverlake. I was also a little undecided about the colour until I went to see the car in the flesh. I think like many Aero owners have said on this site before...Aero's look very different in the flesh than they do in photo's and they can carry colours other car's cannot - that was certainly true of my own imoh!

In terms of drive....I've driven all kinds of cars and when asked by like minded petrolheads what it drives like, the only comparison I can make is a Formula Ford single seater race car for such a raw driving experience - very exciting. No mass production car comes near it in my view (BMW M series included).

Go for it Mateo.....I'm glad I did - such an unusual car can carry the colour. Look forward to reading your first post after purchase.

All the best

Rob

Thanks all for the thoughts and advice.

Hopefully I will be uploading pics of my new (to me) car in it's new home in Washington DC. I'm a real car spotter and I haven't seen an Aero of any variety in the area...ever, and in my opinion that's just fine.

Mateo! Hello from a fellow resident of the good ole US of A.
I'm stoked to hear you say you're picking up that SII in Denver - it's a sharp one. I've only ever SEEN an Aero at Cars & Coffee a year or two ago, so you're a lucky guy getting to own one.
I've got a sister in DC - you better believe next time I'm up there you'll be getting a PM.

Can't wait to see the pictures!

Mateo,

Everyone has already covered your questions quite well but I'll add a few points and add my 2-cents to others.

Areo 8s IMHO look better in metallic colours - they show the curves and therefore the lines of the car far better than a non-metallic.

With 550 miles on the clock, it hasn't really been driven. Therefore, I would suggest booking a night in a hotel so that you can collect the car early on day 1, drive it extensively on the first day and bring it back to the garage on day 2 to have any fettling required done. No one knows these cars as well as a Morgan dealer and simple things like rattles, squeaks, door alignment, etc, can be done quickly and easily, if the mechanic knows the car. Furthermore, sit in the car and get them to spray the roof with a hose to simulate rain - not a pressure washer, just a garden hose - if the roof (hood) is out of alignment, you'll soon know and they can tweak it. Once sorted, these cars are almost bullet proof but being hand built, the first owner may have to do some minor fettling. Low mileage cars are great but it often means that may not have been done.

Lastly, I've owned an e46 M3, e60 M5 and an X6M and despite sharing a great BMW engine, the Aero 8 is nothing like a BMW. It is simply too much fun to be even close and far less clinical. Bags of soul, personality and a sense of occasion whenever you drive it, is the way I'd describe the Aero.

Lastly, get ready to feel like a celebrity. You cannot drive these cars without people paying attention. As was said on this site, by an Areo owner, 'the car is the celebrity, I'm just the chauffeur!'

They aren't cars for those who want to go under he radar grin2

Let us know how you get on

Thanks Simon. The car had about 5,000 more miles put on it by dealership, so I hope I don't have any small things to get righted.

There is a set of pics here let me know what you think. If you see anything that looks "off" like panel fitment, please let me know!

These aren't my pics, but it is the car I've been talking about...can't wait to take some pics of my own.
