Quite often a farm will have a second house built for an employee , son, daughter and they pay no VAT on any of it so a big saving but they are not allowed to sell it at the open market price for obvious reasons. but of course this is often used as a Bed and Breakfast a traditional form of diversification and is growing rapidly as the Farmers get squeezed more and more by our Government that knows nothing about farming - all city boys and girls,

That is often the reason you will see fairly substantial houses on farm,, instead of a big gain they think ok we'll have have a bigger house

Possibly been mentioned earlier, but all cars built in 2004 are Euro 4 and are therefore ULEZ exempt, so I am not sure whey you have to do anything in the way of registering etc for cars built in 2022 and 2018. Many cars built just before 2004 are ULEZ compliant though since the UK authorities take the lazy option and just do the sifting based on build year, you have to battle with them to get cover for a 2003 or earlier car.

The other thing worth mentioning is that UK speed limits arent what they seem. There is an allowance of 10% plus 2 mph when a decision is taken on prosecution so in for example a 60 limit you will not normally be prosecuted until you get caught doing 69mph. Which is exactly the speed that I got caught doing in N Yorkshire ! :-(

Don't bank on that speed allowance Howard - not all counties are that lenient, no matter what the "national guidelines" may be.

Very funny: I meet a woman who works for London GOV and the „Controlling TV for the ULEZ“. She was very interested about my expierence and told me: there are some problems about the registration, so it could be that I get a ticket….

And about speedlimit: I know about them and I noticed all signs in the right way.

Not true anymore Howard, some counties don't give any allowance e.g. ticket for 31 mph in a 30 limit.

It never was the law but a case of avoiding bad PR by being pedantic ( would you help a plod after being done for 31 in a 30? or even 30.1 in a 30) and policing by consent. The police want to catch / stop the idiots not those trundling along at or about the speed limit. Which is also why fixed camera sites are bight yellow and temporary locations are announced beforehand. And in a Freedom of information investigation, 26 out of 39 constabularies said 10% +2mph and the others didnt answer the question.

Reality of course is that if you fail what a patrolling officer might call "the attitude test" you could well be done at any speed for almost anything.

Speed limit "tolerance".
Having been using Pistonheads for several years this crops up regularly. Whenever someone posts about a NIP for a speed at or lower than 10%+1 they are asked to post a redacted copy ( obscuring personal details) as proof. This has NEVER happened. There are many anecdotal claims from second hand posters( wife was done for 34 ina 30) but on discussion the claim is called out as
a) lies by the "victim " not willing to admit the actual speed.
b)trolling
c) people with an agenda and attempts to justify themselves.
Yes, the GUIDELINES say 10%+2 as start of prosecution so in theory it is possible to apply below that. Where is the evidence to back these claims? None provided so far.

Extra thoughts.....
I worked as a civvy in our Ops Room taking 999/101 etc calls and we managed incidents. I had several from people unhappy about being done for minor traffic offences. I can't recall any wher the attitude test was failed for "marginal" transgressions. Not accepting their error/arguing led to "suitable words of advice ( a bollocking) changing to a ticket.
A colleague was out on his bike on the A40. He and another biker were "getting a move on" when they passed a hand held speed gun. They pulled in at a layby further on and decided to go back. The WPC gave them a huge telling off but thanked them for returning. She reduced the speed registered to 69 ( it was actually 90+ after braking) so they would do a SAC. A few weeks later she popped into Ops and recognised my colleague. We had a great chat. At the time of the incident she was unaware he worked there so no special treatment. My mate made her a coffee and biscuits.
