Here's one I did earlier for my 1971 4/4.

Always wanted a pair of Plus 8 spots on it and picking up a pair at a car boot sale for the bargain price of £2 was too good an opportunity to miss!

Made the plastic spacers on the vertical mill which took a bit of working out to get the angle right.

I like the mounts, plain and simple, will make the spots fit in nicely Arwyn. Isn't it funny that in making things look simplistic the engineering behind it is more complex.

Hi again, it turns out to be 7/16" 28 TPI. We then assume it's UNEF, which has 28 turns per inch for the 7/16". A friend of mine will forward such a nut. Hopefully it will fit. Will let you know. Cheers /Finn

Thanks a lot Arwyn, very nice of you. If the UNEF that a friend is forwarding doesn't fit, I would be grateful to obtain a BSB from you. I'll let you know. Cheers /Finn

Did you measure the threads with a gauge, or just do a count? 26 vs. 28 TPI might be difficult to eyeball.

So, the nut forwarded by a friend turned out not to be 7/16" after all (it's smalller). Arwyn, I would be very grateful if you could forward me the correct nut, as it seems to be next to impossible to locate it here in metric Denmark. I counted 28 Tpi, but to be honest it could also be 26, I mean where to start the count and I'm not a prof craftsman after all. How should we proceed?

Afternoon all

Made Sensei his fasteners last night.

Couldn't find my length of 0.600" brass hex so made some on the vertical mill.

Bit of turning, threading and parting and then dropped into the post office on my way to pick the good lady up from work!

Some photos for the interested!:
