I confess to being a simple soul and maintaining ,servicing and running my old banger gives me enormous pleasure and to see her getting coaxed through the emissions by my Indy engineer is a work of art, he commented dryly yesterday "it probably cost a gallon of fuel to do it" but we all enjoyed the tunes he played with the throttle.

I refuse to pay Morgan Agents servicing fees as from previous experience they do the minimum for maximum financial benefit to them.

For this reason I shall not be upgrading to any Aero or CX chassis as you lose control of the things that I cherish about my old bird, being able to enjoy all of it without the encumberance of too much electronic buggeration to stop you !

A pair of scaffold planks, car ramps small and a set of axle stands and small trolley jack is all you need.

I leave it to them to sort me out 5 new tyres for next Wednesday fitting, my only brief being good wet grip, She knows what she is doing so follow her, I'll let you know what she turns up with.

Do please let us know what tyres you get, I need a new set this year, my garagiste (former F1 suspension engineer in the UK) says Hankook, I’m leaning towards Yokohama Advance HF D A008

Nice one George - congrats to you also - it does seem to take a LOT longer to get off the concrete nowadays 🙏

I do envy you being feline free though, I missed a trick there, enjoy your run in her 🙏

Richard, I can't recall what the 'professional' term for this kind of 'tune-up' is but I do like your mechanics style!

I recall having a bit of a banger, where the MOT tester suggested (in the days when they were less draconian) that I drove around the local roads rapidly to get things nice and hot before he tested it again!

Congrats on the MOT

After having a high hydrocarbons readout a couple of years ago I now give her an Italian tuneup on the 10 mile drive to the MOT station i.e. flat out in second gear, no further problems.

When I had my 1978 plus 8 the only way it would pass the emissions was if I disconnected the pipe from the head to the carbs /inlet manifold. So there would be blue smoke coming out through the louvres but the exhaust had the sensor placed in it. The MOT chap used to say, "I'm not required to look or measure the bonnet area"
Fun days...

Looks like your drive is on a slope like ours which a bit of a pain when getting the car level.

My kind of MOT tester.... thumbs

Approaching 40 years old, my Mog might not require an MOT test next year, I need to check up on the date of first registration, though the regs might have changed by then...!
