Living near Acle at the time where the family home was This tragedy was stamped into our minds indelibly as a a tragic and shameful waste of our heroes.

At the time I worked alongside (electronics) a part time Fireman at Norwich City Station who was ex London Full time called Eric Lambert and a really great cockney joker and great workmate. When the news broke so did he, it was only then at a very young age that it dawned on me the level of camaraderie these heroes carry daily through their lives.

The stories in the immediate aftermath of desperate clear markings of gloves searching for a way out left in the thick back smoke markings on the walls haunts me even today

Julian and Foxy will be too young to remember this event but hope some of the lessons ,learnt were handed down to them.

🚒 FIREFIGHTERS DOWN – OXFORDSHIRE TRAGEDY 🚒
It’s with heavy hearts that we pay tribute to two of our Fire Service family who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on Thursday.
Firefighter Jennie (Jen) Logan, 30, and Firefighter Martyn Sadler, 38, tragically lost their lives while bravely tackling a large fire at a former RAF site in Bicester, Oxfordshire.
Both were retained (on-call) firefighters with Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Martyn also served as a Leading Firefighter with London Fire Brigade, Blue Watch at Ealing Fire Station.
Two other firefighters remain in hospital with serious injuries — we’re standing with them and their families every step of the way.
Our thoughts are also with the loved ones of David Chester, 57, a member of the public and business owner at the site, who also sadly lost his life.
To Jen and Martyn — your bravery and commitment to your communities will never be forgotten.
Stand down, your duty is complete.
