Well the latest saga is the drivers side door mirror almost fell off, the front screw in its base was found to have been pushed in and kept in place by silicon, the hole was oversize for the screw!!. As it swung loose it put a 2.5 inch scratch from the front screw down the door..! Luckily I had a new set of Librands mirror bases, so these have gone on and replaced the cheap standard mirror base. Temp touched up the scratch and the car will have go to a paint guru when we get back from France.. I am told the colour is a right bar steward to match though..

I'm sorry to hear that & you should complain to MMC that is a joke fixing method.

Thanks John, sadly this is another build issue to overcome.. I cant refer this back to the factory because its taken 5 years for the mirror to fall off. Ironically, at the start of our drive out over Exmoor I was discussing with the wife how well the car now felt and how quiet it was since I removed all the spare loose washers I had found under the central console!!. Quess I will have to change its name from "Squeak" to Scratch..

You can slide a match or two into the screw hole with a little wood glue. I guarantee your mirror will never move again.
