Why that would only be when it was warming up is a mystery to me, but it could be related to your problem I guess.

When you start the car a high amperage and quite a lot of stored charge is used, then during the first few minutes the alternator kicks out max charge to try and replenish the battery - this could show up in the faulty earth, and I suspect complex Mogs like a CX may well have a dedicated alternator earth connection

Cheers Jon.

Pluged in my OBD2 trader, thanks for the info chaps. No error codes, even thought the engine management light was lit.

Got me thinking on some BMW cars if you change the battery you have to program it in, does anyone know if this applies to a Plus Six?

My new battery is a 096 /100 type that replaced a 096.

On my plus four disconnecting has not needed reprogramming. I then changed the battery without reprogramming

Mark at MMC got me to disconnect the battery on my Plus Six to reset the Bluetooth connection. Worked fine as a solution, and created no issues. So, no, you don't have to 'program it in'.

Are you sure? “Leisure” batteries are normally for caravans and motorhomes and not designed to produce the starting current for an engine.

Yep, just double-checked. This is the battery: Plus Six Banner Battery and here is the datasheet: Banner 57001 datasheet

The spec of battery (Running Bull) is fine and correct but I still think the supplier has mis-named it. Banner Leisure batteries are meant fir caravans etc and are branded as “Energy Bull” not Running Bull.
