I guess if you want to talk reliability you might have to look towards the east..... Japanese cars always had a good reputation....... I've never wanted one though........🤷🏻♂️
People/enthusiasts will always stick up for the brand they love and possibly be prepared to overlook failings that others may not.......
On TM folk will argue til the cows come home that their model/age/spec is the best one....which it absolutely is.....to them.....and that is all that matters really isn't it....?
Just get out and drive them and enjoy them....life is too short.....!
I have a theory that car reliability and freedom from problems peaked in the late 90s and early 00s. Before that the issue was rust and the unreliability of things like carbs and ignition systems. After that we start to hit fancy electronics which your average mechanic cant understand any more than you can.Until we reach the situation right now when a brake pad change can require a man with a computer and software from the manufacturer.
Unless you have pots of money and are happy to use the likes of Dick Lovett, I would not suggest that a modern Ferrari is much fun. As someone has said its too fast. Its wildly expensive to buy and way beyond the skills of your local garage. Less the case with cheaper brands like Porsche. And you find yourself "saving" the car to be used only for special journeys say on country B roads - whats the point of an exotic car in an M4 traffic queue?
That said for far less than a new Plus Four, say £40k, you could buy a Ferrari from the era I mention, enjoy reliablility, have excellent useable performance and relatively cheap service costs from local specialists. Even DIY suitable if you are so inclined. All I was trying to say in my first post was " dont be frightened. They make good cars with better engines than Porker".
The world would be a lesser place without Ferrari, and what automotive enthusiast no matter however other marque biased, can say they have never had interest in Ferrari. To build and race a 2 litre flat 12 is just so very Italian... (-:
I am not a fan of Porsche 911 derivatives since they went water cooled, though as ever in competition they have won every kind of race from Paris-Dakar through to the Lemans 24 hrs and a tad more than once, All that typed I would trust my mid 80`s +8 on a European road trip than I would my 991...(-:
When younger Ferrari were above my pay grade, and heading towards being an octogenarian, I sometimes feel out of place in my blue 991, let alone any bright bulbous bodied Ferrari, and such is the influence of my yoof that it could be in no other colour... (-:
I have been told it is not unusual to find Audi cast identities of some Ferrari engine blocks...?

The older driver is David Franklin, a friend and until he sold his V12 ( think it was a 550 but could have been a 575) a fellow member of the Ferrari Owners club. Interesting insight into the world of expensive cars, I have always had a "Thing" for fast donkeys as Rich calls them, I guess it's the passion, I have been to the factory, the museum in super car valley, got the watch etc but unless I can afford a 275 gtb 4 cam, I don't think I will ever own one buts its good to dream. My current Morgan is totally brilliant for the sort of driving I like to do and being allowed to park infront of the tiger moth I have just had a flight in really made my day, I don't think a Ferrari would have made the grade.
