Can I ask what treatment you guys ( and gals) use to re proof the hood?

I have used Renovo in the past, but notice on their website that it is suggested to clean all remnants of the previous treatment using a cleaner
And then and only then apply the Ultra Proofing liquid. Recommends doing this every 6-12 months!!

I used their chat page facility to ask some pertinent questions, but frankly it was a waste of time ( 40 mins and only 4 responses in that time) consequently
I now have no intention of buying their product.

Thanks in advance.

I also use Autoglym, but unfortunately you can't just buy the proofer on it's own

I use this on my MGB with Mohair style roof https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/products/303-products-fabric-guard-3-78l

The water beads on the roof and runs off well.

we recently took our golf convertible to Padstow and the roof got attacked by seagulls who obviously decided the mohair was a better sleeping and pooing spot then the other car in the car park with steel roofs. It was a total mess when we got home. I normally use fabsil but that's just a proofer and not a cleaner. I bought the autoglym kit, cleaner and proofer, and applied it exactly as per their instructions using about half of the product.

The results are excellent - the roof looks better then ever and water beads nicely. May or may not be as long lasting as fabsil but its certainly cleaned the roof better then I anticipated

Autoglym kit for me too! I have to say how surprised I was in how well it worked. The cleaning element made it look like new, most products haven't cleaned so well and I always hated using a proofer when I wasn't happy with the clean. Then the proofer, first one I have used that wasn't patchy. Most tend to dry alright but you can see when applied that the proofer was patchy on application whereas, The autoglym was very even indeed. Now when I'm cleaning the car I just wipe the mohair parts with a well wrung out micro fibre cloth and its as good as new again. This is the third year on my 2010 plus 4 and I haven't needed to re treat it yet!
