I have never felt any air blowing when stopped. It gets plenty hot in Florida so I’d like to make sure it’s working. Is it speed activated or temperature or both? Are there troubleshooting steps people use? The inline fuse is good. I see 2 usb connectors mixed in with the wiring, are they related? Prior owner mod? Thank you in advance, Neil

Your 2013 M3W would have had the Urban Cooling kit installed after leaving the factory. The fan is activated when the engine is hot and running below 12 mph the fan pulls air from behind and around the rear of the jugs not from the front. You should be able to hear the fan operating when you are driving and come to a stop, as I said above it won't run above 12 mph.

The original cars used to prevent overheating by skip firing - missing out fires. It sounded horrible but it protected the engine. If it has a fan between the cyclinders and the cowel then the OCU was updated to turn off skip fire. Its hlulld do one or the other

Double-check the fan fuse is up to the specs required on the back of the fan. You can look up the fan by the info on the back sticker on the internet to get the minimum fuse requirements. My fan never came on either on my 2013 that had the Cooling Kit installed after the factory. I traced it to a fuse that was too low voltage for the fan. When the fan kicks on - you will hear it in the cockpit. As others said - it turns on below 12 MPH when the engine is hot. My guess is the fan should be on most of the time below 12 MPH in your car in Florida weather. It might also be possible that someone installed that Urban Cooling Kit without the required software update to your ECU. My understanding is the Cooling Kit is hardware AND a software update to kick on the fan on the 2012 and 2013 cars. I am not sure how you would check you got the updated software. But if they just installed the hardware without the software that might be your problem if everything else looks to be wired fine, fuse is the right fuse, etc.

I have a copy of the aftermarket fitting instructions for M3W urban cooling kit which can be downloaded here if it helps.

I have a copy of the aftermarket fitting instructions for M3W urban cooling kit which can be downloaded here if it helps. One thing the instructions do not clearly point out is the need to connect the little wire with the pin on the end into the ECU connector plug . To do so remove plug from ECU (slide red tab off first) and then push down release tab and the plug will come away from the ECU whilst the ECU stays in place. If fitted you should find the small cable outside of the main loom but still going thru the neck of the plug. If you open the plug it should be inserted into pin 15.

As said previously start with the fuse is it correctly rated and working. As the kit might have been non Morgan installed check to see if there is an override switch installed somewhere in the cockpit. Also check to make sure fan is working by connecting directly to battery, if it is then trace the wiring back to see if there are any breaks, etc.. If all checks out then it is probably the ECU connection or software not updated. If it is a software issue then a chat with a Morgan dealer will probably be able to resolve that as they will still most likely have the update.

Does the ecu put 12 volts on the relay pin ? Or ground it?
