My 4/4 is a late 2011 car, which I bought new.( Royal Ivory). Today thought I’d touch up some stone chips. Found the touch up pack that I got with the car which I had used once about 10 years ago. Well the paint in the touch up kit is a lot whiter than the paint on the car, significantly so.
Also I used a little car tech 9000 grit finisher on a scratch. You can just see the lighter hue showing through where I rubbed it. But it is very difficult to see the difference.
Why would the car’ s paint be going darker. I thought if anything it would be lighter.
I guess if I want it corrected, (probably not) a professional valater could re condition the paint.
Any other suggestions?

Unless the touch-up paint came from the same batch that the car was originally painted with, one might expect some slight differences.

Take the car to a body shop and they will scan it, that way you will get the correct colour as it is now. In your documents you should have a thin metal paint swatch, about 6"x3". check that against car and you only need to take that if it still matches.

Mine is Royal Ivory.
When I first owned it when it was new in 07 it was certainly much lighter than it is now.
Second time around it's a much darker and creamier colour.🤷🏻‍♂️

If your tin of touch up has laid dormant for 10 years it will need a surprising amount of stirring / agitation to raise all the pigments in the sediment

My tip is to drop a stainless steel nut in the tin to help mixing

Always, always get the paint scanned. Any car, any age.
