Just had a couple of days up North Wales. It rained all the way up with the usual kitchen roll wedged in the leaking orifices around the roof seals. On the plus side the de mister worked very well with a staggering 45.7mpg showing on the screen. The sill leather had to be mopped at every stop and we seem to have lost the finger thinghy for the sidescreen window we now have a round vent hole. Another rather miserable drive home in the rain we upgraded the kitchen towels to microfibre cloths. To cap it all off I yet again managed to curb the off side alloy whilst trying to dodge a reversing LHD Dutch Motothome he never saw us. A Morgan as a daily I must be honest I was glad to park it back in the garage this evening. 43.8 mpg on the return journey the BMW bits are spot on. Em

The sidescreen plastic thing will probably be down the side of the seat.

Aerotaff, been there done that. My finger bobble also fell out, glued it back in as I found it on barn floor. Leather sills always soaked in rain. That’s what helped my mould farm form on edges of floor Matt. More I think of it, I really can’t believe I put up with it for 3 years. Especially at the price I paid for it. It’s absolutely just not good enough in hindsight . I so wanted it all to work out. It is just an expensive toy. I’m so out of love with Morgan. Just not a strong enough car. The rose tinted specs I had have worn out.

This is Jono. Signing out.

Ooh gawd……..!
My sons first job was as a graduate trainee with a well known American investment company.
5 or 6 departments for approx 6 months in each, starting with their Call Centre .
If you last that you probably were on your way . Moans, problems, etc etc. He often came home looking a bit dejected or down. I said to him ‘nobody phones in to say how well the company is doing, just calling you to thank you etc . Great products !!

So why am I telling you this ………my dream was to buy a new Morgan , a quick fix in later life than do up my Plus 8 .
Having been here with you for 8 or 9 months I fear that my dream of a modern, drivable miles across the continent seems in tatters. Breakdowns in U.K. , perhaps not the end of the world but abroad No, No ,No.
I try to think yes it will all be fine but now I seriously doubt it , The plus 8 did go to euroland a good number of times and only once broke down when the battery fell out on a French Motorway ! Easy solve.

I’m very disappointed that Morgan seem not to have progressed with cars that are daily drivable . Dream starting to fade and probably dimmed to a stage of calling it a day.

I know what you mean. A couple of weeks ago I was in Scotland with a few mates, one of whom has a very lovely Plus Four which impressed me mightily. My old 4/4 behaved perfectly fine on the trip, but coming home in the rain it all seemed a bit tired and rattly, it leaked a bit, didn't demist particularly well and generally got me scheming on ways in which I could find £80k or so to make the move to CX ownership.

Then I read the CX threads, do a bit of minor maintenance to my car, and realise that it's just not going to happen. All mine needed was a tweak on a bonnet catch, an adjustment of the steering damper blades, a couple of screws tightening and it's back to its normal fun self. It might not be the smartest Morgan on the block but it goes like stink, doesn't owe me anything, and costs peanuts to run.

The idea that I could fork out such enormous amounts of money (my ideal spec comes out at just over £90k on the configurator) and still potentially have worse problems than I do now just doesn't bear thinking about.

So unless my Premium Bonds come up with the old magic million, my saved Plus Four spec will remain on the configurator and my trusty old 4/4 will continue delivering the goods.

Just to redress a bit of balance here all the Mog's iv'e owned have leaked including a brand new four seater trad and travelled with dozens of other owners with the same various leakages . It seems many people say they cant justify the 80 90 100k for a new one myself included but there are very many low miles examples out there at fraction of their original cost. It's another day the sun is shineing the crappy roof is folded of course you can use it as a daily what was I thinking. Now where have i put my rose tints.......... Em

The Trads don't pretend to be what they are not. The CXs do, and are a nicely wrapped up collection of Trad issues in a much more expensive and complicated package.
